Complexity pulls out of the ESL Challenger Jönköping Closed Qualifier

On the same day that Complexity defeated Team Liquid in the Grand Final of the BLAST Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023, it was also announced that the team is not pulling out of the ESL Challenger Jönköping Closed Qualifier.

Recall that COL and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, facing his former team, defeated Team Liquid in the Grand Final with a crushing score of 2-0 (16-4 and 16-2). As a result, the team secured its place in the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2023.

However, not all that glitters is gold, as COL’s participation in the Fall Finals 2023 begins on November 22, and they will play throughout that weekend. However, the ESL Challenger Jönköping will also be played on those dates. As a result, it is useless for COL to try to play the Closed Qualifiers for this tournament, as they cannot attend if they get the quota.

Through his Twitter account, Graham “messioso” Pitt announced that Complexity is withdrawing from the ESL Challenger Jönköping Closed Qualifier that starts in the next few hours.

Unfortunately due to qualifying for the BLAST Fall Finals – @Complexity has withdrawn from this qualifier as the two events take place on the same weekend in November.

A few hours after this announcement, the ESL spoke out to make the news official. In addition, they also announced that Wildcard will replace Complexity in this Closed Qualifier, so they will join Nouns, Evil Geniuses, and Forsaken to fight for the quota for the main event in Sweden.

Wildcard is a team that earned its participation in these Closed Qualifiers thanks to its 3rd-4th place finish in the open qualifiers and, of course, its ESL world ranking.

Complexity aim for top-level tournaments

While it is true that all tournaments are important for teams, there is no doubt that some have higher priority than others.

Complexity earned a spot in the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2023 to be played on LAN at the Royal Arena after crushing Team Liquid in the American Showdown 2023. In addition, it is fair to mention that COL is the only team from the American continent that will be present at the Fall Finals 2023.
