Valorant’s roster of agents continues to expand with the reveal of Clove, the game’s 25th agent and newest Controller. With her unique kit focused on reviving herself after death and stealing vital energy from enemies, Clove brings an aggressive new playstyle to the Controller role.

But how does she stack up against Valorant’s existing Controllers like the shadowy Omen and the tidal terror Harbor? In this agent comparison, we’ll break down the abilities and strengths of Clove, Omen, and Harbor to determine which one is the superior Controller pick.

Clove Abilities Overview

Clove’s kit is all about aggressive pushes and in-your-face skirmishes. Her C ability Pick Me Up gives her a big health boost and movement speed increase after getting kills or damage. This allows her to chase down frags relentlessly.

Her Q ability Meddle is a projectile shard that explosively damages and decays enemies in a small area of effect. It’s a nice little zoning tool to clear out angles. Her E ability Ruse gives Clove some much-needed smokes that she can deploy from anywhere, even after dying.

But Clove’s real star of the show is her X ultimate ability Not Dead Yet. This lets her instantly revive in a new location after being killed, as long as she gets a kill or assist within 12 seconds. It’s an ability made for clutching out rounds.

Omen’s Cloak and Dagger

The original shadowy Controller, Omen excels at setting up mind games and punishing overaggressive plays. His smokes from Dark Cover have gigantic ranges, letting him control huge swaths of territory.

Omen’s signature is Shrouded Step, letting him teleport short distances and reposition at will. This combines perfectly with Paranoia, blinding enemies in a wide area so Omen can teleport behind them for a flank.

His From the Shadows ultimate is also one of the most powerful in the game, letting Omen instantly teleport across the entire map to shake up the attack or defense.

Harbor’s Tidal Terror

The latest Controller before Clove, Harbor wields the power of the crashing waves and raging tides. His unique smokes come in the form of rolling waves and water walls that he can curve and bend to conform to any angle.

Harbor’s Cove gives him a destructible water shield for zoning off areas. His Cascade rolls out an actual moving smoke wall to clear out territory. And his ultimate Reckoning is utterly terrifying, spawning geysers that stun any unlucky enemies caught in the waters.

Harbor is all about zoning off big areas and locking down sites, punishing overzealous opponents who try to push through.

The Better Controller?

So which of these three Controllers reigns supreme? It really comes down to your preferred playstyle and team roles.

For a more lurking, mind-game-heavy style of controlling map territories subtly but firmly, Omen is your man. His unparalleled mobility and intel-denying smokes make him a superb anchor or lurker to punish overextensions.

If you want maximum area lockdown and zoning potential with punishing utility for pushes, Harbor and his crashing waves are the way to go. He’s an amazing partner for defensive duelists or initiators to stop enemies in their tracks.

But if you crave a more aggressive, in-your-face Controller dedicated to bloody skirmishes and clutch plays, Clove is the agent for you. Her self-revive and sustain from kills make her a terrifying fragger who can constantly apply offensive pressure.

At the end of the day, all three provide distinct flavors of controlling map space and dealing with enemy positionings. An ideal team will have some combination of them to handle any situation. But if you have to pick just one, your choice likely comes down to just how “controlled” you want your Controller gameplay to be.
