Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov, the former Natus Vincere in-game leader, has been officially signed by Cloud9 to replace Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov.

After signing Denis “electroNic” Sharipov and Perfecto from Natus Vincere from the Ukranian organization NAVI, Cloud9 has officially signed another former NAVI star Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov to complete its CS roster. Boombl4 will now serve as Cloud9’s full-time fifth player, replacing sh1ro, who had been part of their CS: GO roster since the organization signed the former Gambit players in April 2022.

The player had contributed significantly to the Cloud9 journey over the previous 12 months with some amazing performances and outcomes. Sha1ro was sent to the bench, nonetheless, following the organization’s group stage departure from IEM Sydney, where Cloud9 placed 9–12 overall.

Boombl4 reunites with former NAVI teammates

Having already won many prominent titles in the NAVI period in 2020–21, Boombl4 has a wealth of firepower and experience to provide to Cloud9. In order to help Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev and NAVI win the highly sought-after Intel Grand Slam championship in 2021, the 24-year-old IGL guided the team to victory in the coveted IEM Katowice 2020, IEM Cologne 2021, DreamHack Masters Spring 2021, and ESL Pro League Season 14.

Kirill’s inclusion also signifies his reunion with Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy and Denis “electroNic” Sharipov, with whom he enjoyed great success in Natus Vincere. The three of them have triumphed in several major competitions together, such as Intel Grand Slam Season 3 and PGL Major Stockholm 2021. After NAVI benched the IGL in the middle of 2022, Boombl4 played with 1win for a year prior to joining Cloud9 as a stand-in.

Cloud9 has already used him as a stand-in during the Thunderpick World Championship, where he performed well in the team’s first two matches. He led the scoreboard against Virtus.pro in his second game stepping in for Cloud9.

Boombl4 performed admirably in his unusual sniper role, but it appears that he wasn’t the squad’s final replacement and that Cloud9 will soon recruit a full-fledged AWPer. Interestingly, s1mple, who contributed significantly to NAVI’s victory in the Major, has stated he is open to receiving offers from other clubs. It remains to be seen if Cloud9 would pursue s1mple for its European lineup or make other moves.

With Boombl4’s official signing, Cloud9’s current lineup is:

  • Abay “HObbit” Khassenov
  • Denis “electroNic” Sharipov
  • Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy
  • Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov
  • Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov
  • Timur “buster” Tulepov (benched)
  • Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov (benched)
  • Konstantin “groove” Pikiner (Head coach)
