It’s no secret that winter is not only in the real world. In esports, this winter is cold and gray and directly affects many organizations that, little by little, are abandoning some competitive video games.
At this opportunity, Cloud9 announced the departure of many members of its organization, including players, streamers, and even employees, from its Overwatch, TFT, and Hearthstone divisions. This undoubtedly marks the end of C9 in these three esports after several years of competing at the highest level.
On the other hand, it is hard news for the fans and the community of these video games to see how the leading esports organizations in the world are slowly leaving them.
Cloud9 announces the departure of TFT, Overwatch, and Hearthstone players
Through several announcements on its official Twitter/X account, Cloud9 confirmed the departure of several players from its TFT, Overwatch, and Hearthstone divisions.
Saying goodbye is never easy 😔

Just as Evil Geniuses has done in recent months, everything seems to indicate that Cloud9 is ready to reduce its involvement in esports significantly. It’s no secret to anyone that Blizzard’s titles are currently at a standstill, and even more so considering that the Overwatch League has wholly disappeared.
That’s why organizations like Cloud9 want to dedicate themselves entirely to those profitable esports with maximum popularity, such as CS2, League of Legends, Dota 2, and more.
The publication we shared previously is about announcing the departure of 5 players from C9’s Hearthstone squad. Recall that this organization was one of the pioneers in this video game, as it has been part of the Hearthstone competitive scene since 2014. However, the low popularity in every way and the lack of support from Blizzard
On the other hand, Cloud9 also announced that several content creators had left the organization, most notably Wehsing “SingSing” Yuen and gh0st.
Today we part ways with former C9 Dota 2 pro and content creator @SingSing
Thank you for representing Cloud9 for all these years and good luck in your future endeavors, Wehsing 💙 pic.twitter.com/y9rBEsL2qU

Cloud9’s departure from Overwatch comes as a surprise
Recall that Cloud9 confirmed its Overwatch squad just over two weeks ago, which would play under the banner of the London Spitfire. However, this came just days before all teams voted to eliminate the OWL.
Now, the organization’s future in this esports is uncertain, as the Overwatch competitive scene is in serious doubt.
