In what is the latest in a long line of changes for Cloud9 of late, William “mezii” Merriman has been added to their CS:GO roster, with the Brit joining compatriot Alex “ALEX” McMeekin, who’s arrival was only announced last week. With new General Manager Henry “HenryG” Greer also being on board, there is a very British feel to the team. While the arrival of mezii came as little surprise following a teaser from ALEX, the new look roster has certainly got excited fans.

The new-look Cloud9 CS:GO roster now appears to have a good mix of youth and experience, with former mousesports favourite Özgür “woxic” Eker having also arrived. Both he and young rifler mezii have both been handed three-year contracts, which are thought to be worth $1,650,000 and $426,000 respectively, as well as a total of $379,000 in transfer fees. Woxic played a major role in mousesport’s success of late, with the German team having won five trophies, while HenryG also had his say on his arrival: “A true LAN player at heart, his best has come out on stage, in the important matches and at critical moments that decide the outcome of a contest.”

What Else Can We Expect from Cloud9?

There are now just two spots remaining on the Cloud9 CS:GO starting roster, however a further three additions are expected, with an active sixth player having been mooted. 21-year-old Mezii may not have the reputation of his teammates, however he certainly fits in with Cloud9’s goal of developing young talent. Head Coach Aleksander “kassas” Trifunovic will be in charge of ensuring that results improve, with the Serb having made his name at 100Thieves and Renegades, among other teams. Cloud9 has previously helped in honing the skills of Stewie2k, who went on to become both a major champion and Grand Slam winner.

ALEX will captain the team, with the former Vitality man having been in top form before he departed the team due to the consistent travel demands placed upon him. Meanwhile, with Mezii having contributed 73.5% of rounds and earned a good performance rating, the Brit will be hoping to win his first career trophy with Cloud9. Mezii joins from Team GamerLegion, with Cloud9 having announced that Joshua “m1cks” Micks would move from Assistant Coach to an analyst position.
