With the addition of Dylan “Runi” Cade and Jake “Jakee” Anderson, the North American organization Cloud9 is set to finalize its Valorant roster ahead of the VCT Americas League.

Following the conclusion of the hyped VCT LOCK//IN Sào Paulo, the North American organization abruptly cut ties with prominent players Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and  Anthony “Vanity” Malaspina, shocking practically every North American Valorant fan. Yay’s departure after just one tournament sparked a significant backlash in the community, although the organization defended the action by citing roster role issues.

While the North American Valorant fans are still coming to grips with the departure of two of the most renowned players, Cloud9 is set to surprise them with another unexpected move. The collegiate Valorant player jakee and the former IGL of Soniqs, Runi, are set to join Cloud 9.

The two new players are somewhat inexperienced when compared to players like Yay and Vanity, and some people worry that this may place too much pressure on them due to ongoing outcry in the community.

Cloud9 is set for VCT Americas with two young guns

Jakee and Runi are capable up-and-coming players who can help the C9 as they attempt to bounce back from their disappointing performance at Sào Paulo. Runi, who has been a part of the North American Valorant scene since 2021, competed for Zero MarksMen Black before joining Soniqs, where he served as the IGL from April 2022 to January 2023.

The former Soniqs player sought to earn a spot in the 2023 North American Challengers League through the open qualifications, but the team fell to OREsports in the championship game, when he was just one match win from qualifying. Runi will probably take up the squad’s “In Game Leader” post, which has historically not worked out well for the North Americans.

Jakee, on the other hand, has yet to participate in the top-tier Valorant event. With his old team NSIC, which included respectable players like Lucas “fiziq” Blow and Chad “Oderus” Miller, Jake also tried to qualify for the Challengers league back in January. With a challenging loss against Team Major Academy in the first round of the lower bracket, NSIC eventually failed to qualify for the Challengers.

Cloud9’s revamped Valorant roster will make its debut against Evil Geniuses in their opening match at the VCT Americas.

Cloud9’s revamped Valorant roster:

  • Nathan ‘leaf’ Orf
  • Erick ‘Xeppaa’ Bach
  • Jordan ‘Zellsis’ Montemurro
  • Jake ‘jakee’ Anderson
  • Dylan ‘runi’ Cade
  • Mateja ‘qpert’ Mijovic (substitute)
  • Hasan ‘BlackHeart’ Hammad (substitute)
