After another weekend full of action and, above all, a lot of emotions, the online qualifiers for the CDL Major III have left us with an obvious message: Atlanta FaZe is going for the two-time champion.

FaZe has not missed any opportunities they have had to extend their big lead over all the CDL contenders. After lifting the trophy in Major II, FaZe has proven that they are one of the best teams in the league, and they proved it this weekend.

Atlanta FaZe continues its dominance in the CDL

After a weekend full of emotions, Atlanta FaZe won both matches against London Royal Ravens (3-0) and Las Vegas Legion (3-1). Thanks to these victories, FaZe is now at the top of the CDL standings with a 35-point gap over its main pursuer, Toronto Ultra.

However, things don’t stop there for Atlanta FaZe, as they also set a new Search and Destroy game mode record of eleven wins in a row.

Toronto Ultra continues to raise its game, and Florida breaks its string of losses

In addition to Atlanta, Toronto also had a phenomenal weekend. After losing in the Week 1 opener to the Boston Breach, Toronto woke up and has managed to win three straight games. This weekend, the Canadian team crushed two great teams, OpTic Texas and New York Subliners, without losing a single map. With this, the Ultra team climbed to second place in the table and took a five-point lead over the Subliners.

On the other hand, the Florida Mutineers finally got back to winning ways after 12 consecutive defeats. The Mutineers had not won a game since Major I in December, making the win over Boston the first of 2023. Unfortunately, however, the Mutineers fell in the second game of this week 2 to Seattle Surge 1-3.

Last week in sight

This weekend, the final games of the CDL Major III qualifiers will be seen before the players embark on their journey to Arlington, Texas, to play the Major in front of a live audience. There is no doubt that there is a lot at stake in these final matches, as let’s remember that the position of the teams will determine their place in the first phase of the next Major.

Nothing is set in stone yet. We have a tie with 30 points at the top of these online qualifiers for Major III between Boston, Atlanta, and Toronto. The top of this situation is that all three teams only have one game remaining, so it’s win or wins to take the top spot in the standings.

Next, we will show some of the most important matches we will have in this week 3 of the CDL 2023 Stage 3 Major Qualifiers.

  • Toronto Ultra vs. London Royal Ravens
  • New York Subliners vs. OpTic Texas
  • Atlanta FaZe vs. OpTic Texas
