The Call of Duty League 2023 season Major V qualifiers are now underway. After three exciting matches on the first day, we have Atlanta FaZe, Toronto Ultra, and OpTic Texas, who started their way to the season’s last Major.

Atlanta and Toronto showed an excellent level after a clean 3-0 victory over LA Guerrillas and Seattle Surge, respectively. However, OpTic Texas had to fight until the fifth map against Las Vegas Legion to take the victory by 3-2.

Undoubtedly, all teams will try to win every game in these online qualifiers, as this will be the last chance to score points toward the next CDL Championship 2023.

Atlanta FaZe start strong against LA Guerrillas

Atlanta FaZe continues to be one of the most consistent teams in this 2023 CDL season, and they proved it in this first game of the online qualifiers for the Major V against LA Guerrillas. While all players displayed an exceptional level of play, we cannot fail to mention the outstanding play of McArthur “Cellium” Jovel.

As usual, this series between FaZe and Guerrillas started in Hardpoint (Al Bagra Fortress). However, the Atlanta FaZe boys, led by Cellium and Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, took a comfortable 250-180 victory to break the ice of these new qualifiers.

Then, the team was confident to deliver two thrashings in El Asilo. The first was at Search&Destroy by a score of 6-1, and the second, to seal their first win of these qualifiers, at Control by a score of 3-0.

OpTic Texas suffer but win against Las Vegas Legion

Las Vegas Legion comes to this Major V with the firm conviction to demonstrate that their level of play has increased in recent weeks and also try to score as many points as possible to qualify for the CDL Championship 2023 to be played at home in Las Vegas.

It all started at Embassy, where Las Vegas Legion pleasantly surprised their fans with an excellent victory at Hardpoint with a score of 250-237. James “Clayster” Eubanks, with a K/D ratio of +1.58, led his team to victory.

OpTic Texas responded immediately, also in Embassy but in Search&Destroy, to take a narrow 6-4 victory with all their players displaying an exceptional level of play. However, this did not stop there, as Donovan “Temp” Laroda and Clayster had an ace up their sleeve to deliver the second blow to OpTic Texas in El Asilo (Control) with a score of 3-2 and put them in check.

In the end, OpTic Texas was able to show why they are one of the best teams currently in the Call of Duty League and managed to take the win at Breenbergh Hotel by 250-175 on Hardpoint and 6-5 on Search&Destroy.

Toronto Ultra make themselves respected at home and get a clean win over Seattle Surge

As we know, Major V will be played at Toronto Ultra’s home, so the Major III champions will try to repeat the feat, but this time in front of all their fans. The first step has already been taken, as they crushed the Seattle Surge with a 3-0 score to add their first victory of these qualifiers in a row.

Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst and Jamie “Insight” Craven led the Ultra to the clean sweep in this first match of the qualifiers.

It all started at Breenbergh Hotel (Hardpoint), where the Ultra’s cruised to a comfortable 250-168 victory. We then moved to Embassy (Search&Destroy), where we saw a little more resistance from the Seattle Surge. However, Toronto managed to pull out a three-point lead to take the 6-3 victory.

Finally, the teams returned to the Breenbergh Hotel, but this time in Control, where Toronto took a comfortable 3-0 victory. As a result, Toronto starts the online qualifiers for the Major V at home with an excellent win.
