While we all thought Bjergsen would disappear from the esports scene for a while, we were somewhat mistaken. Former 100 Thieves player and one of the legends of the LCS, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, publicly apologized to the organization’s founder, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, for how he handled and made public his retirement as a professional.

While it is true that Bjergsen revealed his retirement through a truly touching video and explained in detail all the reasons, the player did not inform the organization in due time. This, no doubt, did not go down well with the organization and, above all, with Nadeshot, who made some statements on a team podcast.

Bjergsen apologizes to Nadeshot and 100 Thieves

There is no doubt that Bjergsen has been one of the legends of the LCS since he arrived in 2014 under the TSM banner. The player managed to lift the LCS champion trophy several times and is also considered the best Mid-Lane in the history of the NA region.

Although the player was still performing and playing at a high level, he decided to retire a few days ago. This news surprised many people in the community, as it came at an unexpected time, and the way he did it has not been the best, according to the organization and other players.

However, in one of the latest episodes of the 100 Thieves podcast, Nadeshot talked about the player’s unexpected retirement and how this had affected the organization. According to Nadeshot, 100 Thieves learned of this news only an hour before the player posted the video.

In the video, Nadeshot claims he was playing golf when he received a message from his esports boss, Jacob. The message stated that Bjergsen had just reported his retirement and that the statement would be released an hour later.

Nadeshot’s mixed feelings

Nadeshot explained the situation when they found out and said that he understood (as a former professional esports player) that Bjergsen wanted to retire to focus on his personal life.

However, he then states that he preferred the player to handle the situation better. Furthermore, Nadeshot claims that he was angrier when he saw the video, as it was more than clear that his retirement had been planned for a long time because of the video’s production quality.

Then, the founder and CEO of 100 Thieves again acknowledges that he fully understands why Bjergsen did it. For the North American LoL legend did not want the news to leak.

Bjergsen’s apology arrives

After this episode of the 100 Thieves podcast surfaced and went viral on social media, Nadeshot posted a message on his Twitter account clarifying the situation.

We can see that Nadeshot justifies how Bjergsen announced and handled his retirement, as a legend like him can do it the way he deems best. However, Nadeshot also points out that all the comments made on the podcast were simply because he and the organization felt affected. That’s why they spoke so candidly.

To that, Bjergsen responded with a tweet apologizing for how he faced and handled the topic of his retirement. The LCS legend said he agrees that he should have handled the situation differently. Finally, Bjergsen says he is proud to have ended his career with 100 Thieves.
