Distinct Cross-Game Structure

(17)

Apart from the customary solo competitions for every game, EWC 2024 will provide a new cross-game rating system. Points will be awarded to esports teams and organizations according to the success of their players in each competition.

The group that accrues the most total points will be crowned the official “Best Esports Club in the World” and receive the Esports World Cup championship trophy along with a separate prize pool payout.

This innovative format ensures the tournament spotlight extends beyond single-game excellence. As teams attempt to put up rosters capable of collecting points across many titles and genres, it introduces a new element to the metagame strategy.

“Uniting and showcasing the power of esports has become a reality,” Reichert added. “We can’t wait to bring those vibrant fan communities together in Riyadh.”

Player Routes and Awards

(18)

A multi-event qualifying process will allow both pro-Esports athletes and amateur players to participate in the Esports World Cup, tailored to each game’s fan base.

The details are still being worked out but EWC expects to use a combination of direct invites to top teams/players and open qualifier tournaments to determine final fields. More qualifying details will be announced game by game over the coming months.

In line with the whole esports ecosystem being interconnected, EWC 2024 is also rethinking the structure of prize money and rewards. In addition to payouts for each individual game tournament, teams and players will be further incentivized through the overarching cross-game ranking system and championship prizes.

Complete prize details will be announced once all the ranking systems are finalized in the lead-up to the summer event.

Entertainment for Esports Fans

Even though the competition action will unquestionably be the main event, the Esports World Cup is planned as an all-encompassing gaming experience for all generations.

In addition to the pro tournaments, EWC will host grassroots amateur competitions, gaming lounges, music concerts, interactive activities, educational gaming exhibits, and other activations around Riyadh city.

The goal is to offer an immersive celebration spanning both the competitive and cultural aspects of gaming for traveling esports fans and locals alike.

Global Viewership

(20)

Not in Saudi Arabia? But don’t worry – the Esports World Cup is also focusing on overseas viewers to ensure global audiences can tune in.

The organizers have started partnering with streaming giants Twitch, YouTube, and others to stream every tournament live in over twenty languages including English, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and more.

The stack of multi-genre games on offer, combined with an original cross-game format, pro/amateur tournaments, entertainment venues, and global online viewing options, the Esports World Cup 2024 looks set to be an unparalleled celebration of global gaming culture.

It could be the must-see esports event of the year – so esports fans should already be planning their summer already.
