The European Dota 2 giant BetBoom has already obtained US visas for every member of the squad, removing a big obstacle off their path to competing at The International 12. (TI12).

BetBoom became the final Dota 2 team to earn a spot at The International 12 through DPC points after the conclusion of the Bali Major. Concern regarding the team’s visa issues for TI, however, was a hot topic of conversation in the Dota 2 community due to the prior incident with the contentious player Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko. Due to a visa issue, Pure was unable to compete at the PGL Arlington Major last year while serving as the hard carry for Entity. Joná “SabeRLight-” Volek of TSM FTX filled in for Pure at the event.

But now that BetBoom’s roster has received US visas for The International, fans who have been anxiously anticipating their favorite team’s participation in the biggest Dota 2 event of the year can breathe a sigh of relief. Now that their spot in T11 has been confirmed and their visas have been approved, they can focus only on training for the most prestigious Dota 2 event of the year. For the Internationals, there are currently only eight spots available, and teams must participate in regional qualifying to earn them.

A complicated visa process awaits TI12 participants:

Esports players frequently have a challenging and complex visa application procedure when visiting the US, with various degrees of difficulty based on their country of origin. Famous Russian professionals were notably missing from numerous esports competitions, which is evidence that getting a visa to the US can be difficult, especially for Russian players. Some teams had to substitute players, forfeit games, or even withdraw entirely from the competition after one or more members of the team were denied visas.

According to reports, Gaimin Gladiators may be forced to travel to The International 2023 without Erik “tOfu” Engel because of visa complications. If the reports proved to be accurate, it might make things more difficult for the teams who established themselves as the most dominant team of the year by winning three straight Dota 2 Majors.

Additionally, it suggests that other Eastern European teams may experience similar difficulties as the competition approaches nearer, just as they did at the Dota 2 Berlin Major. Others still have time before the event’s opening on April 26 to start to see if the visa issues can be resolved or, at the absolute least, to plan the best replacements.
