The Roobet Cup 2023 playoffs are in full swing, and we have already enjoyed the tournament’s first two games, which left us with excellent victories for Aurora and Monte. As a result, both teams sealed their tickets to the tournament’s semifinals and will face each other on November 1st for a place in the Grand Final.

There is no doubt that we have to highlight that both teams achieved solid 2-0 victories, which indicates that they played at their best possible level of play. However, mention must be made of Aurora’s boys, who crushed BIG in the Quarterfinals as underdogs.

On the other hand, Monte did their homework against Movistar Riders, who could not withstand the onslaught of the Ukrainian squad.

Let’s see what happened in Monte and Aurora’s Roobet Cup 2023 Quarterfinals matches.

Aurora annihilate BIG 2-0

The first surprise of these playoffs was Aurora’s solid victory over BIG by 2-0. We say it’s a surprise because BIG has been playing well recently, and Aurora hasn’t played any Tier 1 events in recent months. However, this is another demonstration that in CS2, anything can happen.

It all started in Ancient, BIG’s map pick, where we enjoyed a great game that had to be defined in Overtime. In the first half, Aurora started extremely strong on their CT Side and got a partial victory by 9-3. Then, at the change of sides, BIG woke up, hit back to even the score 12-12, and sent the map to OT. Finally, after 6 rounds in Overtime, Aurora surprised by taking the victory by 16-14 and thus starting the playoffs on the right foot.

In the second map, Nuke, things were equally balanced, as the first half ended with a score of 6-6. Then, at the change of sides, Aurora’s defense was in charge of repelling BIG’s attacks, and, after 11 rounds, they managed to take the victory by 13-10 and thus seal their ticket to the semifinals.

Monte apply a clean sweep against Movistar Riders

The second game of these playoffs left us with a resounding victory by Monte against Movistar Riders that showed many problems. However, it’s not all bad news for the Riders, as qualifying for the playoffs can help them with confidence and attitude for the upcoming events.

The series began at Anubis, Monte’s map pick, where we had a very exciting map from start to finish. However, Monte prevailed to take the win by 13-10. The Ukrainian squad started with everything on their CT Side and took a solid 8-4 partial victory. Then, at the change of sides, the Riders tried to get back into the match, but their comeback fell short and ended up losing 10-13.

In the second map, Overpass, things changed completely, as Monte showed a quality and level of play that left the Spanish squad breathless. In the first half, Monte pulled out the chest to take a resounding partial victory by 11-1, something that, undoubtedly, with this MR12 format, is difficult to overcome. Finally, the Ukrainians won the first 2 rounds on their T Side to take the 13-1 victory and advance to the tournament’s semifinals.
