The Esports Awards 2022 is an annual award ceremony that honors the best in their respective disciplines by presenting them with prestigious awards in honor of their contributions to the community.

The buzz created by The Game Award 2022 last week has been carried forward by the Esport Awards, bringing the excitement to a new level. The best esports organizations, players, teams, developers, esports titles, and many others were awarded notable trophies and accolades, while the gaming community enjoyed another exciting award night. Taking place at Resorts World in Las Vegas, USA, The Esports Awards covered various categories including broadcast talent, mobile gaming, PC gaming, and content creation.

S1mple wins the PC Player of the Year award

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, the CS:GO prodigy from Ukraine and one of the most well-known esports athletes, has recently added another trophy to his collection by winning PC Player of the Year at the Esports Awards 2022. S1mple has been the most consistent player in the competitive scene despite the difficulties he faced throughout the years because of the Ukrain-Russia conflict. S1mple defeated twelve other well-known esports players to claim the crown, knocking out competitors from Valorant, CS: GO, Apex Legends, Dota 2, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, and StarCraft II.

The Ukrainian superstar is incredibly talented both as a player and as a teammate, complementing Natus Vincere’s game style perfectly with his unparalleled fragging talents. In addition to being crowned the best player for 2019 and 2020 at the Esports Awards, he has won a record 21 HLTV MVP medals and one major title.

He is also among the elite list of players who have taken home the Intel Grand Slam trophy, the greatest and most prestigious title in CS:GO. In addition, ESL, one of the top esports event organizers in the scene, named the CS:GO prodigy Player of the Decade for the game.

Valorant wins the Esports Game of the Year award for the second consecutive year

Valorant comes out on top over popular games like CS: GO, League of Legends, and Dota 2 to win the Esports Game of the year award at the Esports Awards 2022 ceremony. Riot’s ten-year history with League of Legends esports has undoubtedly helped it in Valorant, as the game’s esports circuit quickly soared to the top in terms of viewership, fan engagement, and prize money.

Despite Coivd-19 outbreaks and lockdowns, Riot Games has built an impressive esports circuit for Valorant, the Valorant Champions Tour. And for the year 2023, the developer has bigger plans for its beloved first-person shooter.

Riot has already taken a step toward expansion by bringing franchises to the Valorant esports ecosystem, adding a thriving Challengers Ascension league in the VCT circuit, and establishing the Game Changers, a world championship event for women and other marginalized genders.

The awards were not just for the game, but also for the players and organizations that performed outstandingly during the VCT circuit. First at the Game Awards, and now at the Esports Awards, the Brazilian esports organization and Valorant world champions, LOUD won the award for Esports Team of the Year.

With so many accomplishments in such a short period of time, Valorant’s future seems bright. The largest-ever international LAN will begin the VCT 2023 season in So Paulo, Brazil, indicating that things appear to go on an upward trajectory for Valorant and Riot Games.
