Gamers8, a well-known esports tournament organization, has officially revealed the start date of its annual global esports festival, which is also expected to feature a substantial prize pool. With its prize pool, the organizer has set an exemplary standard in attracting elite competitors worldwide.

According to the most recent announcement by the organization, the prize pool for the 2023 edition of Gamers8 Esports will amount to a whopping $45,000,000. This is triple that of the 2022 competition ($15,000,000). The Saudi Esports Federation (SEF), the country’s leading esports organization, provides funding for the upcoming festival.

Following this stunning announcement, the Saudi Arabia-based organization will surpass Dota 2’s The International 2021, which offered $40,000,000 in prize money, to host the largest esports competition. In addition, Gamers8 has also unveiled the biggest e-sports and video game festival of the year, dubbed “The Land of Heroes.”

Gamers8 will kick off on July 6, 2023, in Riyadh, the capital and main financial center of Saudi Arabia. Over eight weeks (July to September), The Land of Heroes will host a series of lucrative and exciting esports competitions of different competitive video games.

What esports will we have at Gamers8 2023?

The esports roster that we will have in competition at Gamers8 2023 has not yet been revealed. But based on last year’s festival, which featured such well-known games as Dota 2, PUBG Mobile, Rocket League, Fortnite, and Rainbow Six Siege, fans can make some predictions. Now that the prize pool has tripled, more competitive games could be added this year. Which would make this event reach many more people across the globe.

In addition to esports events, the festival will feature exciting musical performances, educational talks by developers, and other open events. In addition, the well-known esports and gaming summit New World Forum will return in 2023 and is expected to last two days, the same as last year.

The company has not yet disclosed the exact start and end times for esports competitions, concerts, and other activities. However, as the start date approaches, more information will likely be made public.

Gamers8 is the biggest government-backed event ever

The upcoming SEF-supported Gamers8 festival is undoubtedly one of the most significant government-sponsored public gaming events, attracting fans and gamers worldwide. However, due to its divergent views on the LGBTQ+ community and women’s rights, the general public has heavily criticized the Saudi government.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia has invested significantly in gaming and esports to develop the sector within its borders. However, while the Gamers8 2023 event is a shining example of esports culture and is expected to succeed in the coming months, Saudi Arabia’s reputation may hinder its success abroad.

President of the Saudi Esports Federation, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, said:

“It is with great pleasure that we once again welcome the elite of the esports world to Riyadh for Gamers8, the Land of Heroes, where the best of esports shines and triumphs. We aim to serve the global community of esports and gaming enthusiasts and ultimately develop the global eSports ecosystem.”
