After two terrible and disappointing splits, Excel Esports has decided to let go of one of the most prominent talents of the EMEA LoL scene, Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé.

Undoubtedly, many in the community expected Excel Esports to make some moves ahead of the LEC Summer Split 2023. Also, let’s remember that, unlike the rest of the leagues in the world, the LEC will have a slightly longer break, so teams have a little more time to shape their squads for the rest of the season.

Excel has surprised everyone by letting go of one of Europe’s most talented players and returning to his former team.

Excel Esports announces its disengagement with Targamas

After a terrible start to the season for Excel Esports, the organization has started to change its roster ahead of the LEC Summer Split 2023. One of these changes is the departure of Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé, a player many consider one of EMEA’s biggest emerging talents in LoL.

Targamas was only with the team for a season and a half, as let’s remember that he joined Excel before the start of the 2022 season. Nevertheless, this signing promised to bring a lot of success to this organization, as the squad was full of promising players in the EMEA scene. In addition, they also had two experienced players in, Patrik “Patrik” Jírů and Andrei “Xerxe” Dragomir.

While it is true that the squad promised a lot, the players could not have the necessary cohesion to lead the team to victory. As a result, at the Winter Split 2023, Excel Esports finished in last place in the table with a very poor 1-9 record. As a result, the organization sent him to the bench, where he was for the entire Spring Split.

Targamas reacts to Excel’s Tweet

While it’s true that many players tend to thank the teams they leave, Targamas posted a somewhat defiant response to Excel Esports.

This undoubtedly surprised many in the community, as the player seemed disappointed in the team. Furthermore, from the tone that Targamas’ response can give, we may think that his departure from Excel was not on good terms.

However, a few hours later, Karmine Corp, a team currently playing in the LFL (France), announced its lineup for the Summer Split, where Targamas is one of its main references.

About Targamas

Although he could not show his full potential in the LEC, Targamas was one of the main pillars of Karmine Corp in his debut year in 2021. That year, KCorp lifted the champions trophy in the Spring Split playoffs and won back-to-back European Masters.

With the addition of Targamas, KCorp and the team’s fans hope this squad will again take them to the top, just as they did in 2021. In addition, this is the reunion of Targamas with Jakub “Cinkrof” Rokicki, who were very important in the team’s successful months in the 2021 season.
