Thanks to their wide diffusion, Esports are now widely used in fields such as education and training. Thanks to their benefits, Esports provide students with tools to become more critical and strategic thinkers. Likewise, it will enable players to establish values they can use in all facets of their lives.
Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports, the first esports league in a university environment, active in 16 countries on four continents, is an example of this. The League has a vital educational component aimed at university students to provide them with training opportunities and their first professional experiences in the industry.
Start of the second Split
The second Split of the ninth season of Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports premieres, along with the restart of educational activities. The excitement will continue in the second part of the competition with the five games available in this 2022/23 season:
- League of Legends
- VALORANT
- Teamfight Tactics
- Clash Royale
- Rocket League
In the first Split, more than 370 teams from 76 universities from all over Spain participated.
All the champions of these national qualifiers of the second Split will compete in their respective modalities in the Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Grand Final with the winners of the first Split. In addition, these teams will also have the opportunity to compete for a place to represent Spain in the Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Masters.
The Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Masters is a face-to-face competition that brings together the best teams from 16 nations to compete for the title of European University Champions.

UNIVERSITY Tour
One of the objectives of Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports is to engage with the student community through face-to-face events in an environment that exists mainly online. This is why the UNIVERSITY Tour is being developed, a trip to numerous universities throughout Spain. The goal is to introduce competition and provide students with various esports-related experiences.
In the first half of the season, UNIVERSITY Tour visited some universities throughout Spain: the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, the Universities of Alicante, Almera, Castilla La Mancha, and Murcia, as well as the University of Valencia.
In the second half of the cycle, the Tour will visit more universities to be announced soon.
A league only for the best
The ÆTHER League is an exclusive competition for the best teams in the overall standings. In this League, they play in the context of Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports, where the top eight VALORANT teams from the previous season compete against each other during the first part of a competition, and finals are held in person at Amazon GAMERGY.
The ÆTHER League of League of Legends, during this second Split, can be seen every Sunday on the Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Twitch channel. This time the dispute is with the best eight teams in the first half of the competition.
Lightning tournament
The calendar also features other competitions with various formats. For example, the inaugural Lightning Tournament of the second Clash Royale division takes place this weekend.
The format of this competition is teams of two players (at least one must be a university student). The total prize money of 700 €, distributed as follows:
- 1st place 400 €
- 2nd 200 €
- 3rd 100 €
