Team BDS, who acquired a spot in the LEC for 2022, have unveiled their League of Legends roster, which includes British AD carry “xMatty” and ex-Fnatic top laner “Adam”. The news broke via Twitter on Monday, with the remainder of the roster being made up by players from across Europe.

Polish jungler “Cinkrof” is joined by mid laner “Nuclearint” and support “Limit, who are French and Croatian, respectively. Meanwhile, popular German Fabian “GrabbZ” Lohmann will act as head coach for Team BDS, having left G2 Esports back in November, with Duffman having been brought in as an analyst.

Why Team DBS Brought in xMatty & Adam

Newcomer xMatty could not hide his delight at joining Team BDS, tweeting how excited he was to “finally get a shot in the LEC”. The 22-year-old has previously played for the Fnatic Academy, before spending 10 months with Karmine Corp. xMatty’s Karmine Corp teammate Cinkrof has also joined from the “Blue Wall”, with Adam having also featured for KC, before joining Fnatic earlier this year.

With KC having won consecutive European Masters titles in 2021, Team BDS will be hoping that their recent recruits will be able to pick up where they left off. KC surprised many by signing world-class ADC “Rekkles” from G2, with their stock rising rapidly. Team BDS will get started in the LEC with the Spring Split, having acquired Schalke 04’s franchise spot back in June, a deal that was worth some €26.5m.

Can Team BDS Make an Impact in the LEC?

Adam joins Team BDS after a long and public dispute with ex-Fnatic teammate Upset. The 19-year-old has the best stats in the LEC when it comes to solo kills, with fans being understandably excited to see what he can bring to the fold. Speaking on the arrival of xMatty, new Team BDS head coach GrabbZ stated:

“I think, if you win EU Masters twice, you already showed that you can play in the LEC. Let’s face it, I think good EU Masters teams are probably equal to the tenth/ninth-placed teams in the LEC. Easily. At G2 we scrimmed against Karmine Corp as well, so we could see that these players are not bad. I think, ability-wise, there was never a question about it. Just talking to them, it also was really clear that they can bring more to the table than just being a player. What will you bring to the table besides the gameplay? What can you bring, what type of atmosphere? It was really important to me that I have five players who are functioning not only as a League player, but also as athletes.”

Team BDS has already achieved success elsewhere in esports, with their Rocket League roster having won the RLCS 21/22 Fall Major. The organization recently announced a significant rebrand, which features the tagline “Challenge the Game”.
