zonic will be absent with Team Vitality at Gamers8 2023

We are just a few hours away from the start of the next big event of this CS:GO season, the Gamers8 2023, and there is some negative news for some important teams. We are talking about Team Vitality, one of the best teams in the world right now, which will not be able to count on their coach in the tournament, Danny “zonic” Sørensen.

This could be a considerable loss for this Team Vitality lineup, as the boys are used to playing under the command of Zonic. However, the player’s experience and talent can help the team cope with this absence in the best possible way.

Team Vitality confirm zonic will not be with the team at Gamers8 2023

Through a post on Twitter, Team Vitality confirmed that Danny “zonic” Sørensen did not travel with the lineup to Riyadh for Gamers8 2023 due to family reasons. As a result, Mathieu “MaT” Leber, Team Vitality’s current assistant coach, will take over to lead the team in the $1,000,000 tournament.

There is no doubt that zonic is one of the best Danish players in Counter-Strike history, as he won many tier 1 tournaments with mousesports (MOUZ), Fnatic, Team ALTERNATE, SK Gaming, and h2k Gaming. However, after retiring from the competitive scene, he transitioned to Head Coach, where he had incredible success with Astralis in their golden era.

After several years in the Danish organization, zonic decided to explore his options and joined Team Vitality in 2022, where he led the team to win the IEM Rio 2023 and, above all, the Paris Major.

Team Vitality at Gamers8 2023

There is no doubt that Team Vitality is one of the favorites to lift the champion’s trophy. In addition, take the lion’s share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. However, to do so, they will have to overcome their first obstacle in the tournament, MIBR. The match between Team Vitality and MIBR takes place in the next few hours (August 16) at 16:30 CEST.

If everything goes as expected, Team Vitality will face the winner between NaVi and FURIA Esports in the tournament’s Quarterfinals.

Remember that the CS:GO Gamers8 2023 is a LAN tournament part of the esports festival held in Saudi Arabia. In this tournament, 16 of the world’s best teams are fighting to grab the largest portion of the $1,000,000 prize pool, i.e., $400,000.
