The hardware brand Acer has recently revealed the first gaming laptop in its Chromebook series titled Acer Chromebook 516GE, which promises a powerful and top-tier cloud gaming experience.

The device is already available in the United States, while gamers in EMEA will have to wait until December, and those in the UK until January 2023.

Specifications

The Acer Chromebook 516 GE is powered by the latest technologies, boasting a 12th Generation Intel Core i7 P-series processor, along with a fast high-resolution 120Hz IPS display, 16GB LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD.

Focused on gaming, the laptop also comes with an RGB keyboard with anti-ghosting technology designed to register fast and accurate keyboard inputs and combinations. Users can choose from seven vibrantly colored preset backlight color modes or a predefined 4-zone color option. Furthermore, the advanced DTS audio promises to deliver high-quality, distortion-free sound on four speakers, while unwanted sound vibrations are eliminated by the force-canceling woofers.

Lastly, most gamers will appreciate the laptop’s battery with a 9-hours capacity, fast and reliable Wi-Fi 6E, as well as an HD flare-reducing webcam with temporal noise-reduction technology to increase visual fidelity. The Chromebook also features the latest connectivity ports for connecting to large displays, including dual USB Type C, USB Type A, HDMI, and Bluetooth 5.2.

According to Chris Daniel, Product Director for ChromeOS at Google, Acer Chromebook 516 GE is set to be a game-changer for gamers looking to play games with a hassle-free, smooth, and high-fidelity experience.

In order to support cloud gaming on ChromeOS, Google is also providing with the purchase of an Acer Chromebook 516 GE a 3-month free trial of NVIDIA GeForce NOW’s highest performance tier, as well as Amazon Luna, for a limited time, aiming to “give players a chance to try selected games at no cost and experience just how easy cloud gaming can be”.
