Warzone 2 Season 2: Changes on Al Mazrah

The second season of Call of Duty Warzone 2 will bring some changes to the Al Mazrah map. Activision has announced major POI changes, including a new underground cave network and passenger train.

The players will certainly be happy about this because Battle Royale fans often complain about the midgame of a match. While the beginning of a round is full of action and you usually get into a gunfight immediately after landing, the tension decreases afterwards.

Can the new changes to the map fix these issues and bring some momentum back into the midgame? We have summarized the innovations for you here!

There was already a problem in Warzone 1

There was a similar problem in the predecessor. There it was solved by introducing an underground fast travel system and portable Redeploy balloons. With their help, players were able to reposition themselves and track their goals better. The new Warzone 2 does have the train orbiting Al Mazrah, but the Redeploy balloons and fast travel have been removed.

Now Activision has announced a new move to allow players to move faster across the map again. There will also be two more major map changes that will just transform the bare landscapes of Al Mazrah.

New underground caves

On February 9, Activision announced further details about the upcoming changes to the map Al Mazrah in Season 2. The developers have now confirmed that the new POI featuring a crashed plane in Warzone 2’s Satiq Cave is inspired by the original Modern Warfare 2 map Afghan. For veterans of the game series, this is a big announcement as the classic setting has never received a remake like some other popular CoD maps have.

Al Mazrah’s desert environment makes it challenging for teams to traverse open areas without being punished by enemies waiting on the other side. The developers have announced a new underground cave network between Rohan Oil and Taraq Village to alleviate this problem.

The cave has five entrances and is full of loot and supply crates. And finally, a new passenger train will make its rounds in Al Mazrah. The new train differs from the original freight train as players can move between wagons with doors and openings on the roof. The squads can find legendary boxes and other valuable items in the new train.

Warzone 2 Season 2 will start on February 15 and as soon as it’s here we’ll share all the new features with you!
