With the conclusion of week 5 in the VCT Pacific League, we are done with more than half league. Once again, we get to witness nail-biting matches. Let’s take a closer look at VCT Pacific League week 5.

While DRX seems to have no intention of forfeiting any matches or taking it easy, Global, DFM, and Talon are struggling with only one win each after five weeks. Meanwhile, Paper Rex, T1, Gen.G, and Team Secret are in a comfortable position. RRQ, however, needs to step up in the upcoming weeks to secure a spot in the top 5, which of course will depend on the performance of other teams as well.

Paper Rex emerges victorious against Global Esports

If we discuss the initial match of week 5, it was between the Southeast Asian crowd’s favorite team and the South Asian fan favorites. The opening map was played on Icebox, which was surprising as GE has a notable track record on this map, which they further confirmed by winning with a 13-7 score.

On the second map, Global Esports took on Split. It was expected that Paper Rex would make a comeback, but the intensity was high as the first half ended with a dominant 9-3 score. Eventually, they secured the map with a 13-8 score, leading to a 1-1 tie.

Moving on to the decider map, Pearl, Paper Rex took an early lead with an 8-4 score, exerting high pressure on the GE side. Despite a counterattack from GE with a few rounds, Paper Rex comfortably finished by conceding only 7 rounds.

DRX shines against Gen.G

Fans were treated to yet another exciting match as DRX faced off against Gen.G, which went down to the wire and stretched to the third map. Gen.G picked Haven as the first map, but after looking at the first-half scorecard of 11-1, things were not looking promising for them. However, Gen.G displayed great resilience in the latter half, winning five rounds in a row. Unfortunately, it was too late as DRX closed out the map with a 13-7 score.

Gen.G bounced back in the second half on the second map of Fracture. The score after the first half ended at an even 6-6 score. After half-time, Gen.G were looking much more comfortable on defense and secured the map at 13-10.

The last and decider map was Pearl where DRX once again dominated the first half 9-3. DRX didn’t let their momentum lose in the second half as they rapidly concluded the map by securing four more rounds.

T1 sweeps RRQ comfortably

Both teams came into the game with vastly different past match records. RRQ had won their last two matches, while T1 had suffered two consecutive losses. Despite this, T1 seemed more confident than its opponents. The first map, Haven, was secured by T1 after conceding only 9 rounds in total, giving them an early lead in the best-of-three series.

Moving on to the second map, Fracture, T1 continued their dominant form, taking an early lead with a first-half score of 9-3. In the latter half, RRQ struggled to find their footing and were only able to win a single round, as T1 closed out the map with a 13-4 score. With this win, T1 secured the series with a 2-0 victory.

Team Secret annihilated DentonatioN FocusMe

Team Secret and DetonatioN FocusMe went head to head in a thrilling best-of-three series. The first map, Ascent, was DFM’s pick. Team Secret started as attackers, and the half-time score was tied at 6-6. After a series of close exchanges, Team Secret secured the map with a 13-11 score.

Moving on to the second map, HAVEN, Team Secret’s pick, DFM started as attackers, but they failed to capitalize on the assumed attackers’ favored map. The half-time score was 9-3 in favor of Team Secret. In the second half, DFM put up a fierce fight and managed to win several rounds. However, Team Secret eventually closed out the map with a score of 13-8, securing the series with a 2-0 victory.

Talon Esports surprise ZETA Division

In a stunning upset, Talon Esports dominated the ZETA division in the final match of week 5, securing their first win of the league with a commanding sweep. Talon took the first map, Haven, by a comfortable 13-8 scoreline. The second map was a nerve-wracking battle that went into consecutive overtime, in which both teams refused to back down. However, in a nail-biting 24th round, Talon kept their composure and emerged victorious with a 16-14 score. The match was an epic showdown, leaving fans fully engaged throughout the game.
