A bug appears in ALGS Split One Playoff

Although different video games are constantly updated, bugs will always be present. Whatever game it is, it is challenging for developers to meet 100% of the expectations regarding the development of their titles.

We recently saw how in IEM Katowice 2023, a bug affected the economy of the Brazilian team FURIA Esports in the middle of the game. The problem is not the existence of a bug because, as we mentioned, they are common in all video games but occur in top-level competitions.

A bug almost prevented Moist Esports from advancing to the finals of the ALGS Split One Playoff

Moist Esports started the tournament as the top seed in Group A, unquestionably the fan-favorite team with a strong chance of winning the tournament. However, the team finished 14th in the standings, which earned them a spot in the Winner’s Bracket.

However, a terrible game bug ultimately ended the game and affected the team in the series’ first game. So naturally, this upset all the players on the team.

Player Ben “Wxltzy” Walton attempted to execute a Skyward Dive with the team to rotate to a safer position and thus have some time to recover. However, the opponents taking over the Lava Dome shot them out of the sky to shoot them down and forced Moist to make an emergency landing.

As the players landed in the lava, a bug sent them to the center of World’s Edge, a location deep inside the ring, with no hope of getting back. In this match, Moist finished in 12th place, getting only one point for placement and three for kills.

Problems with Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive

Valkyrie’s Skyward Dive has had many problems when teleporting. For a long time, these “Valkyrie Surfing” and “Magic Carpet” glitches have been known to have a negative effect on some games for teams using them.

On the third day of the ALGS Split One Playoffs 2023, three rounds were played on the Bracket Stage. Of the 40 teams participating, the top 20 advanced to the grand final, while the rest were eliminated from the tournament.

Moist, formerly Team Burger, came to this ALGS Split One Playoff in London with the firm conviction of doing well and taking home the championship trophy. Instead, Moist managed to win the APAC-S regional final, where they set a record in their region, as they were crowned champions in five games with a three-game winning streak.

There is no doubt that this bug completely ruined the match and the performance of the Moist Esports players, which ended with a 15th-place finish in the fifth game of the day.

Then, with only one game left in the day, Wxltzy managed to make an excellent move for the team to finish in second place in the match. In doing so, they secured enough points to finish in ninth place for the grand finale to be played today, Sunday, January 5.
