The victims of these two teams were Sentinels (NRG), who have their first tournament defeat, and KRÜ Esports, who did not know what it meant to win in their first two games. The excitement of the VCT Americas League continues today, April 10, with a single match: Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves.
Let’s look at what happened on the second day of Week 2 of the VCT Americas League.

NRG Crushes Sentinels for First Victory
With their powerful lineup of players, Sentinels had no choice in this matchup against NRG and were crushed 0-2. Sam “s0m” Oh made life impossible for Sentinels with Zachary “zekken” Patrone, the only player with a 1.00+ Rating.
The series was played at Lotus (SEN) and Icebox (NRG).
Lotus
NRG gave a taste of what would come at the start of the Sentinels map pick, Lotus. However, NRG, led on the attacking side by Victor “Victor” Wong (175 ADR, 245 ACS, and 1.33 Rating) and s0m (172 ADR, 280 ACS, and 1.47 Rating), managed to surprise Sentinels with a 9-3 partial victory.
.@NRGgg lead 9-3 going into the half! Will we see a curse or will they close out the series 👀 #VCTAmericas pic.twitter.com/QJEWxx5uZa

In the second half, Sentinels woke up and tried to execute one of the many comebacks in this VCT Americas after an initial 9-3. So much so that with a Zekken awakening by Sentinels, they could put the score 8-10. However, NRG Esports could withstand the onslaught of Sentinels to take the victory 13-10.
First blood is taken by @NRGgg!
They win on Lotus but will they close out the series? Time to find out on Icebox. #VCTAmericas pic.twitter.com/BuxxhiTkmZ

Icebox
Icebox was a completely different story regarding the end of the match, as NRG again started the first half with full force, winning 10-2. S0m and Austin “crashies” Roberts gave this tremendous blow to a Sentinels that were blurred from the map.
In the second half, the NRG boys won the first three rounds to deliver a 13-2 thrashing to a team that was supposed to be tougher in this match.
They're seen as the best team in NA for a reason.@NRGgg win 2-0 and earn their first win of the #VCTAmericas season!

MIBR applies a reverse sweep to beat KRÜ Esports
The Brazilians thwarted the first victory of the season to the Argentinians of KRÜ Esports by applying a reverse sweep 2-1 in a series full of many emotions. Olavo “heat” Marcelo (157 ADR, 253 ACS, and 1.20 Rating) led MIBR to victory in this series.
Ascent (KRÜ), Lotus (MIBR), and Pearl (decider) were the maps played in this series.
Ascent
KRÜ more than proved the reason why Ascent was their map pick. Colombian Santiago “Daveeys” Ruiz showed a spectacular level of play on this map, which ended with 194 ADR, 313 ACS, and a 1.51 Rating. There is no doubt that Daveeys charged his team with a great comeback.
MIBR started very strong, Ascent winning the first half 7-5. But, of these seven rounds won, five were consecutive, which could have hurt the Argentine team. However, this woke them up, as they put on a great display to come from behind and take the win 13-9.
What a turnaround 🤯@KRUesports bring it back on Ascent to go up 1-0 in the series! Lotus coming up next. #VCTAmericas pic.twitter.com/DNuXlriTdi

Lotus
In Lotus, we had a similar situation regarding the development of the match, but with a reverse result, that is, this time, it was MIBR who came from behind to take the victory.
With the push and confidence after winning the first map, KRÜ Esports got a partial victory with a score of 8-4. The KRÜ boys were savoring their first victory of the tournament. However, MIBR would deny them because, with an impressive display of João “jzz” Pedro (189 ADR, 332 ACS, and 1.95 Rating), the Brazilians managed to annihilate KRÜ on the attacking side to take the victory 13-11.
WE'RE GOING TO MAP 3‼️@MIBR fight back to tie up the series 1-1! Pearl to decide the series. #VCTAmericas pic.twitter.com/YsyGH4hIZQ

Pearl
In Pearl, both teams gave us the best of their arsenal and, without a doubt, gave the spectators an intense and exciting match.
KRÜ started the actions with a very good start winning the first four rounds on the defensive side. However, MIBR responded immediately to win seven consecutive rounds to ensure they were ahead on the scoreboard in the first half.
After that, we had a back-and-forth match where both sides left it all out in each round played. Heat for MIBR and Angelo “keznit” Mori for KRÜ carried their teams in this match.
Thanks to how evenly matched Pearl was, the teams went to Overtime, where MIBR managed to win both rounds to take the win 14-12.
It was an incredibly close series but @MIBR secure their first win of the #VCTAmericas season!
