The Last Chance Qualifier is over and now we know what the most played heroes are in the current meta. Of course, the teams that compete at The International 11 may have other preferences, but they’ll likely adjust their strategies to take advantage of the heroes that proved to be strong in the LCQ.

The meta has changed considerably since the launch of Dota 2 patch 7.32c and heroes that were supposed to be dead are back. Their win rates vary significantly but the fact that a lot of teams pick them suggests that they are much stronger than before, at least when used properly.

It’s one thing to play a hero in a pub game and it’s another thing to play that hero as part of a well-coordinated team that follows a certain strategy.

Most played heroes in the current meta

These are the heroes that got picked and banned a lot in the Last Chance Qualifier:

  • Undying
  • Shadow Fiend
  • Tusk
  • Morphling
  • Primal Beast
  • Clockwerk
  • Disruptor
  • Nyx Assassin
  • Enigma
  • Marci

Undying got picked the most, but that’s because everyone regarded Marci and Enigma as being much scarier. Those heroes usually got banned in phase one, while Undying, Tusk, Disruptor, and other strong options were left in the pool.

It’s interesting to note that Shadow Fiend and Disruptor were rarely picked at the highest competitive level until a few months ago. Now they are everywhere and their win rates are really high. Shadow Fiend won 60%+ of its matches while Disruptor won 63%.

One of the most broken heroes in the current meta is Marci. It’s not yet clear how to counter Marci strats and since she’s so annoying once she gets a Black King Bar, everyone prefers to just ban her. The pick + ban rate of this hero during the Last Chance Qualifier was 100%.

For some reason, teams insisted on picking heroes that used to be good but probably aren’t anymore. Snapfire, Earthshaker, Tiny, and Silencer were picked dozens of times each, with disastrous results. Their win rates range between 29% and 41%, which is not good at all.

No doubt, the teams that will play at The International 2022 have taken note of the situation and will be more careful with their drafts. There’s no point in trying to make something work when something else is clearly much better.

The best carry heroes at the moment seem to be Morphling and Slark, but many more are perfectly viable if the strategy of the team that picks them is solid.
