The VCT Americas League closed the seventh week of the tournament with a crushing 2-0 victory for Cloud9 over Leviathan. As a result, the controversial and much-criticized North American team is level with LOUD at the top of the table, while Leviatán will have to play for their lives in the last week of the tournament to qualify for the playoffs.

There is no doubt that we will have many emotions assured until the last game of the regular season since only the last three teams that will be present in the next playoffs that will begin on May 23rd are still to be defined.

Now, let’s see what happened in the match between Cloud9 and Leviatán that closed the 7th week of the VCT Americas League.

Cloud9 crush South Americans to climb to the top of the table

After being a much-criticized team before the start of the tournament, Cloud9 has shown that the signings they have made for this season and, above all, the departures have been exceptional. The team right now is tied for first place with LOUD with a 7-1 record, and there is no doubt that the team’s performance has been exceptional, as they have lost only three maps so far in the tournament.

On the other hand, Leviatánhas their fourth tournament loss and will now have to win in the last week if they want to qualify for the playoffs.

The match between C9 and Leviatán was played on Lotus (C9) and Haven (LEV).

Lotus

Cloud9 started their map pick with an extremely high tempo, but we must highlight Dylan “runi” Cade, who led his team to victory.

Cloud9 had a spectacular first half and took a comfortable 9-3 win on their attacking side. Then, at the change of sides, the South Americans tried to wake up after winning the first three rounds on their attacking side. However, Cloud9 reacted immediately to win the remaining four rounds to take the 13-7 victory.

Haven

In Haven, history repeated itself and was even more disastrous for the South American side. Again starting the map on their attacking side, Cloud9, this time with an immense Nathan “leaf” Orf, managed to take a comfortable 10-2 victory in the first half.

At the start of the second half, Leviatán also won the first two rounds, just as they did in Lotus. After that, however, Cloud9 hit back with a hat-trick to take the map victory with a 13-4 win and climb to the top of the table.

Cloud9 will face KRÜ Esports to close their participation in the VCT Americas regular season, which, in theory, should be a comfortable victory, considering that KRÜ has not won a single match so far. Meanwhile, Leviatán will have the very complicated task of looking for their qualification against LOUD in week 8 of the tournament.
