FaZe Clan’s triumph in the ESL Pro League Season 17 gave them a place in the $1,000,000 BLAST Premier World Final 2023.

The newly crowned ESL Pro League Champions and Grand Slam Season 4 winner FaZe Clan becomes the first team to qualify for the highly charged BLAST Premier World Final. As revealed by BLAST through an official blog post, the European team earned the spot at the biggest BLAST event of the year after clinching the ESL Pro League Season 16 title.

There will be eight CS:GO teams playing in this event, each of which has earned a seat by topping the leaderboard or winning some of the top-tier CS:GO tournaments. The champions of the Paris Major, BLAST Spring Final, ESL Pro League Season 18, and BLAST Fall Final will take four of the seven remaining seats.

As Valve decided to organize just one Major event this year, BLAST was forced to provide an additional slot to a team from the BLAST Premier World Final leaderboard. As a result, the last three spots at the World Final will be filled by the top three teams on the Leaderboard.

The most recent edition of the competition, the BLAST Premier World Final 2022, was hosted in Abu Dhabi as part of a three-year deal between BLAST and ADGaming. Eight elite teams competed in the competition, including the 2021 BLAST Premier World Champions, NAVI, and Major winners Outsiders, but G2 Esports emerged victorious and took home $500,000 after defeating Team Liquid 2-0 in the championship match.

FaZe is on a roll

Earlier last week FaZe won the $1,000,000 Intel Grand Slam title, which is offered to the first team to triumph in four Big Events run by ESL throughout ten straight tournaments. By winning three of their four titles—IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 15, and IEM Cologne—in 2022, FaZe was one title away from the decorated Grand Slam title.

They did not, however, succeed in the next three consecutive competitions, therefore they needed to triumph in one of their following three events to claim the award. G2 winning the IEM Katowice 2023 put more pressure on FaZe as they had two tournaments left to win the milestone that only Astralis, Natus Vincere, and Liquid have accomplished.

Finally, they had their chance in the ESL Pro League Season 17 final, where they won the Intel Grand Slam Season 4 title by defeating Cloud9 3-1. It will be intriguing to see if FaZe can emerge as the winner of the season’s final major CS:GO competition while battling against some of the top-ranked teams in the globe.
