VCT 2023 Ascension EMEA: Playoffs defined

After an intense and exciting Group Stage, the VCT 2023 Ascension EMEA playoffs are completely defined, and only the best four teams of the ten participants got their place for the next phase. As a result, the list of possible candidates to play in the VCT EMEA League 2024/25 is narrowed down, and we are much closer to meeting the lucky team.

We are talking specifically about Acend and SAW in Group A, while in Group B, we have Apeks and Gentle Mates. These four teams demonstrated a great level of play throughout the Group Stage, and now, with no margin for error, they will have to fight tooth and nail to get that coveted first place and, above all, the slot for the next two seasons in the VCT EMEA League.

On the other hand, Digital Athletics, CGN Esports, Dsyre, FOKUS, Team Falcons, and Case Esports will have to wait at least one more season to be able to continue with the dream of moving up to VALORANT’s top tier in the EMEA region.

Let’s see what happened on the last day of the Group Stage in the VCT 2023 Ascension EMEA.

Acend close out Group A with wins

There is no doubt that Acend is more than proving their excellent level of play in this VCT 2023 Ascension EMEA, as they finished on top of Group A after an excellent and crushing victory over SAW by 2-0. While it is true that both teams finished the Group Stage with a 3-1 record, Acend’s victory in the direct match between them gives them first place in the table.

Likewise, it is worth mentioning that both series maps were intense and exciting. It all started in Split, where SAW started very strongly, winning the first half by 7-5. Then, Acend reacted immediately to even the score by 12-12 within the first 24 rounds. Finally, in Overtime, Acend took the victory by 14-12.

On the second map, Lotus, we had a match virtually identical to the first, with the difference that the first half ended completely even, i.e., with a score of 6-6. However, Acend showed a great level in their defensive side to take the victory by 13-11.

Digital Athletics crush Dsyre by 2-0

On the other hand, the match between Digital Athletics (DA) and Dsyre was also very exciting, as both maps were really exciting. However, DA was able to pull out the chest to take a comfortable 2-0 victory.

It all started in Haven, where DA completely turned on Dsyre, especially on their defensive side, as they prevented several of their rivals’ approaches. Finally, DA took the victory by 13-9. Then, the second map was much more balanced, as the first half ended with a score of 6-6, leaving the table set for an intense second half. Dsyre’s guys were very close to sending the game to Overtime. But finally, DA managed to take the victory by 13-11.

Apeks and FOKUS give joy to their fans on the last day of the season

Finally, Group B of this VCT 2023 Ascension EMEA was closed by Apeks and FOKUS with 2-0 victories to bring joy to their fans.

The first match of the group was between Apeks and Team Falcons, two extremely popular teams in the EMEA competitive scene. The series started with a crushing victory for Apeks in Lotus with a spectacular 13-2 score. Then, just when we all thought the second game would go the same way, the Team Falcons guys tried to wake up and even took the map, Ascent, to Overtime. However, Apeks pulled out all the stops, and with Georgio “Keiko” Sanassy at an unbeatable level, they managed to take the victory by 14-12.

Finally, FOKUS also crushes Case Esports on this last day of the Group Stage to deal a fourth blow to a team that did not win a single match in the tournament.

It all started in Haven, where FOKUS dealt the first blow of the series with a spectacular victory with a score of 13-3. Then, in the second map, Case Esports woke up and made things much more complicated, but FOKUS managed by the hand of Lewis “YaBoiLewis” Hughes to take the victory by 13-11.
