Good news for the Chinese community of Riot Games’ tactical shooter! The developers of VALORANT have announced the game’s launch date in China. As a result, the game’s large community in this region will finally have access to a feature that is undoubtedly one of the most demanded in this game.

It is no secret to anyone that VALORANT became one of the most popular FPS in the world since its launch in 2020. In addition to capturing the attention of many players, this tactical shooter has enjoyed an exponential rise, which today we could compare to CS:GO in terms of tournaments and millions of dollars being handed out.

VALORANT gets the green light in China

While it is true that the game has enjoyed great popularity for three years, it was not until the end of 2022 that Tencent, Riot Games’ “branch” in China, was given the green light to launch VALORANT in China. However, everything stayed there at that time, and we had no more information about it until February when the web portal Bloomberg reported that the official launch of the game in China would be in the summer of 2023.

On the other hand, it was also reported that TJ Sports, one of Tencent’s many subsidiaries in China, was in contact with players and organizations to create a VALORANT league in China. However, these were all reports that, until a few hours ago, had not been confirmed by Riot Games.

Finally, after several months of anticipation and much waiting, Riot announced more details regarding the launch of VALORANT in China.

VALORANT in China – Launch Date

According to Riot Games’ announcement, VALORANT will officially launch in China on July 12, 2023. Riot confirmed this at an event held in Shanghai a few hours ago.

Riot’s president of esports, John Needham, took the stage at the event minutes before announcing the official launch of VALORANT’s Chinese servers.

The first thing to note is that VALORANT will be coming to China with four maps and 16 agents. In addition, it was also mentioned that players would have access to a new exclusive melee weapon called Tai Chi Fan. Finally, Riot noted that players could use a recording tool integrated into the game, something the community has recently requested.

First LAN event in China

While it is true that Chinese teams have already played in this VALORANT season 2023, let’s remember that, until next July 12, these had to play on other servers and even use VPN. However, this announcement of the official launch of VALORANT in China comes after announcing the first LAN event in this country.

From July 3-16, 2023, the top 12 teams in China will play in Shanghai in a 100% LAN environment in the qualifiers for VALORANT Champions 2023.

On the other hand, it is worth noting that EDward Gaming’s participation in the Masters Tokyo, which ended a few days ago, confirms that Chinese teams are ready to play at the highest competitive level. In addition to demonstrating great play, EDG beat LOUD, NaVi, and T1, three very powerful teams in their regions and the world.
