The VCT Americas League regular season is ending, and in the penultimate round of week eight, we have LOUD and Cloud9 continuing to prove that they are a step above the rest of the regional teams.

In every region, we have had teams dominating since the beginning of the season. However, in the Americas, it is a pleasant surprise to see Cloud9 at the top of the table, as they were a much-criticized team before the start of the tournament, and they have been silencing mouths every week of the regular season.

The last game of the regular season will be between 100T and MIBR, and the result will define the top six positions in the table. However, C9, LOUD, NRG, and Leviatán have sealed their playoffs tickets. While 100T, EG, and FURIA are in the fight for the two remaining slots.

Let’s see what happened yesterday in the VCT Americas League.

KRÜ Esports end the regular season without victories

Cloud9 dealt the ninth blow to the boys of KRÜ Esports, who failed to win a single match during the tournament. Although they showed a great level against C9 in their last game of the regular season, the South American team could not manage even one victory in the tournament.

The series was played in Lotus (C9), Ascent (KRÜ), and Split (decider).

Lotus

It all started at Lotus, Cloud9’s map pick, where we saw exceptional play from both teams. In the first half, Angelo “keznit” Mori and Santiago “Daveeys” Ruiz managed to perfectly decipher Cloud9’s defense to take a comfortable 9-3 partial victory.

However, with the change of sides, something very common happened in this 2023 season in the VALORANT competitive scene. Once again, a team can come back from 3-9 down to send the game into overtime and win it. Dylan “runi” Cade was in charge of shattering the South Americans’ defense to lead Cloud9 to an extraordinary 15-13 victory.

Ascent

In Ascent, KRÜ continued to show great play from Colombian Daveeys, who led his team to a 13-6 victory.

The first half was balanced, and each team could show a high level of play. Thanks to this, the scoreboard ended with a 6-6 score, leaving the possibilities open for either team.

At the change of sides, KRÜ displayed a mind-blowing defensive display that allowed them to win all seven consecutive rounds to take the 13-6 victory and even the series 1-1.

Split

Finally, the teams met in Split, where Cloud9, led by Erick “Xeppaa” Bach, managed to win 13-9 to finish the regular season with an excellent 8-1 record.

The first half was an offensive recital by Cloud9, as KRÜ could not stop any of the attacks of the North American team and ended up losing by 4-8. At the change of sides, KRÜ tried to react and was able to put the score 9-10. However, Cloud9 managed to win the last three consecutive rounds to take the victory 13-9.

LOUD secure top seed with 2-0 win over Leviatán

Finally, the last match of the day saw LOUD crush Leviatán with a resounding 2-0 win and demonstrated an infinitely superior level of play to the Chilean team.

The series was played in Haven (LEV) and Ascent (LOUD).

Haven

It all started at Leviatán’s map pick, Haven, with an incredibly aggressive LOUD on the attacking side. The first half started with a partial 3-1 Leviatán victory in the first four rounds. After that, however, LOUD won seven consecutive rounds to secure a sizable first-half lead of 8-4.

Leviatán started strong again at the change of sides, winning the first three rounds and, thus, partially placing the score at 7-8. But, finally, LOUD struck back by winning the next five rounds to take the 13-7 victory.

Ascent

In Ascent, we saw a recital of good play by the Brazilians and Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro, the team’s IGL, who led them in every way to take a comfortable 13-5 victory.

Leviatán again started the map with a bang winning three of the first four rounds. However, that was all they could do on this map, as LOUD finished the first half with a 9-3 score. Then, at the change of sides, LOUD clinched their victory after winning four of the six rounds contested to take the win 13-5. In addition to the eighth win, the team secured the top seed in the overall standings of the VCT Americas League.
