The excitement of the final tournament of the 2022/23 Call of Duty League season continues, and we are just one game away from finding out the champion of the CDL Championship 2023. Toronto Ultra and New York Subliners scored excellent victories on the third day of the tournament to qualify for the last game of the season and, no doubt, the most important of all.

We have enjoyed a truly spectacular tournament, and all the teams have given their all to reach the final match. However, it is worth highlighting two facts: first, we have that the two finalists were favorites from before the start of the tournament to reach this stage. Second, we can’t overlook that OpTic Texas, after finishing the season as one of the best teams in the online qualifiers, deflated again in the LAN tournament. The green wall could not get past Round 2 of the Elimination Brackets, something disappointing for this team.

Let’s see what happened on the third day of the CDL Championship 2023.

Atlanta FaZe fought but settled for third place in the CDL Championship 2023

Atlanta FaZe, one of the favorite teams in this CDL Championship 2023, played for their lives in every game after falling to the Elimination Bracket. First, the team was able to dispatch Boston Breach in Round 2 with a score of 3-1. Then, the team faced the Seattle Surge, who came in with much inspiration after eliminating OpTic Texas. However, FaZe pulled off a resounding 3-1 victory to advance to the Elimination Bracket finals.

Ultimately, the team fell short against the NY Subliners in this Elimination Bracket final match and had to settle for third place in the CDL Championship 2023. In addition, the team took home a juicy $320,000 prize.

Toronto Ultra qualify to the Grand Final after crushing NY Subliners

The Toronto Ultra were coming into the Winners Bracket final match after 3-1 victories over the Seattle Surge and Atlanta FaZe, so they were coming in with a lot of confidence. In addition, the talent these Ultra rookies have and the aggressiveness as the main label of their game makes the team one of the most dangerous.

The Ultra’s victory over the Subliners was by a score of 3-0. It all started at Zarqwa Hydroelectric (Hardpoint), where the Ultra’s had an excellent performance to take the win with a comfortable 250-186. Then, the teams moved to Mercado Las Almas (Search&Destroy), where after an extraordinary pitched battle, the Ultra again took the lead and won 6-3.

Finally, El Asilo (Control) was the scene of the last and decisive map, where the Ultra took a resounding 3-0 victory to seal their ticket to the tournament’s Grand Final.

Subliners get revenge on Atlanta FaZe

After the loss to Toronto, the team from the big apple had to play the Elimination Brackets final match against a tough Atlanta FaZe who came with a lot of inspiration after their two consecutive victories.

The match kicked off at Breenbergh Hotel (Hardpoint), where Atlanta FaZe more than showed the drive and confidence they brought to take the win 250-198. While this may have hit the Subliners, it woke them up, as they hit back immediately at El Asilo (Search&Destroy) 6-3 to even the series 1-1.

Then, at Breenbergh Hotel (Control), the Subliners continued their excellent level of play and cruised to a resounding 3-0 victory. Finally, New York completed the reverse sweep at Embassy (Hardpoint) with a 250-195 victory to seal their qualification to the CDL Championship 2023 grand final.
