One of League of Legends’ most exceptional yet least-played champions will get a whole host of changes that will make her an even more tricky opponent.

The long-awaited mid-scope update for Neeko is finally live on the PBE server. Not only does it change the damage ratio of almost all of her skills, but it also gives her many new effects designed to take advantage of her playful yet tricky nature.

We’ve summarized the changes to Neeko for you here!

Neeko can transform even better now

While it’s not clear when this minor Neeko overhaul will make its way from the PBE to the live servers, it’s likely that it will make the testing phase may be completed in time for the release of patch 13.9 on May 3rd or patch 13.10 on May 17th.

When Neeko’s mid-scope update was first announced last year, Riot revealed that they plan to take the curious Chameleon’s stealth abilities a step further, allowing her to transform into plants, minions, and more; all in addition to her passive, which originally only allowed her to morph into allied champions until she took damage.

When standing next to one of these units, Neeko gains an Appearance Charge which she can access in her Passive Bar to transform at will.

Neeko gets buffed!

Neeko’s camouflage fantasies have been expanded even further by maintaining her transformation through her passive at all times. She only loses it when the life points of that transformation are depleted, when she becomes crowd controlled, or when she uses a skill. Her passive can now also trigger every six seconds.

Also, Neeko is now able to easily control the direction her clone moves when she casts her W, similar to LeBlanc’s Passive. The controls are rather modest though and still flag after a few seconds, although players should now have a bit more leeway to trick their opponents into thinking that Neeko is their clone or vice versa.

Neeko’s ultimate has also been significantly changed. Enemies standing in a circle when Neeko jumps in the air will be rooted immediately and remain stunned for a bit longer when she lands – this means players no longer have to wait for crowd control to cast until the ability ends. However, Neeko no longer gets a shield with her ultimate. This ability also retains its original effect of not appearing if Neeko transforms when used.

Neeko in the jungle?

With these changes, Riot apparently wants to ensure that Neeko can’t just pick on the midlane. The damage of her Q and the passive effect on her W spell have been heavily buffed when attacking jungle camps. Riot Phlox, a designer on the Summoner’s Rift team, has said that the team doesn’t expect Neeko to become too dominant in the jungle, instead wanting it to be an option that opens up new possibilities for the champion.
