It’s shocking how far some people will go to cheat in esports. From hidden headsets to SD cards to slow-motion tricks. It seems like cheaters are finding more and more creative ways to cheat.

Cheaters always try to trick other fair players. However, some cheating attempts are just ridiculous. Here are the 10 craziest cheating attempts in esports history.

10. Doping

Kicking things off is one of the biggest scandals in Call of Duty history. It is a mixture between a cheating and doping scandal. After winning the Call of Duty CDL Championship, COD Pro player Huke came out in front of the public and admitted to taking Adderall and talked about his addiction to the drug. It’s not sure if it really brings an advantage but many take Adderall to increase their concentration. Huke earned over $1.5 million in prize money with Team Empire at the time, so it was really a huge scandal.

9. SD card cheating

Let’s move on to a creative cheating attempt that really shocked the Smash Bros community back then. In 2016, a player managed to make the grotty character Pichu just overpowered by using an SD card. He secretly inserted his SD card, which he had prepared at home, into the Wii console at the tournament and was suddenly unstoppable. Eventually, however, the tournament organizers became aware and noticed his cheating attempt. For this creativity we give our place 9.

8. Cheated himself

Next we come to the strange cheating attempt by former Hearthstone pro Hosty, who tried to stream his own match during a tournament in 2015 even though the stream had a 10-minute delay. The craziest part, however, is the way he got busted in the process. After the match, some pros noticed something strange in the background. On a picture in his background you could see the reflection of the official stream he had open. He finished last in the tournament and was kicked out by his team the same day.

7. Word.exe

Perhaps the most famous cheating scandal in the history of Counter-Strike belongs to Forsaken. After some very suspicious plays at a tournament, the organizers became aware of CS:GO pro Forsaken. They decided to check his PC and, of course, they found what they were looking for. However, the best part of the whole thing was that Forsaken tried to hide his cheats by naming the files Word.exe and quickly deleting the files before his computer was searched. Luckily, he wasn’t fast enough, embarrassed himself and created a meme for eternity with word.exe.

6. Cycling sport is never clean

Our next cheating attempt concerns virtual cycling. In the game Zwift, where the pros compete with electronic bikes at home, you have to ride extremely long distances or complete special challenges for the best bikes, and the big goal is the Tron bike, which you can really only get with a lot of hard work. Unless your name is Cameron Jeffers, because he found another way. He paid someone to use software to unlock the bike for him. In return he was stripped of all his Zwift titles, banned for 6 months and fined a paltry $300.

5. Welcome to the Jungle

Let’s move on to the king of Twitch XQC, who also wanted to try a little cheating. During the Twitch Rivals Fall Guys tournament, the Canadian thought he could streamsnipe Dr. Lupo. What makes it really weird though is the fact that it wasn’t for a lot of money or anything, so there wasn’t even a real reason. In his apology, XQC said he thought it was funny. However, Twitch didn’t find it funny at all and banned him for 7 days and excluded him from all Twitch Rivals for 6 months.

4. Slow Motion

Our next cheating attempt was only uncovered by chance and remained undetected for over 10 years. After a Polish programmer developed a software for Trackmania that would show you the inputs of the best players of all time, he noticed that something was wrong with the leaders of the Trackmania leaderboards. They were pressing their buttons so fast that it wasn’t actually humanly possible. In the end, it came out that 7 of the best players put their Trackmania on slow motion to break the records. Simply incredible

3. Famous for a brief moment

Since 2011, there was a YouTube channel that showed exploits for the game Halo in their videos. 4 years later their big moment would come they competed in a Halo tournament as a team and used their exploits during a match, which got them disqualified. They completely didn’t care though, they were just happy to show off their tricks in the tournament live on stream.

2. Another shot in the dark

One person who especially deserves the place in our list of the craziest cheating attempts is Jarvis from FaZe Clan. FaZe Jarvis actually just wanted to show some cheats on his YouTube channel for fun and forgot that Epic Games has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to cheaters. His fun turned into a lifetime ban, which even his tears in the apology video couldn’t lift.

1. Double headphones

Our first place goes to the most brazen cheater ever. French Clash Royale player Gregempire77 thought he was super smart and could outsmart everyone. During a tournament, he went on stage and communicated with his coach throughout, still wearing his own headphones under the tournament organizer’s headset. But that didn’t help him either, because he still lost. Maybe he should look for a new coach to help him cheat. It’s really crazy that nobody noticed that.
