The BEST Teamfight Tactics Combinations for Meta 14.8

Teamfight Tactics’ massive 14.8 update has shaken up the Set 11 meta in a big way. Riot’s balance changes were aimed at reducing the dominance of reroll strategies while boosting the viability of 4-cost carry champions. And based on the initial data, those goals seem to be accomplished – at least for now.

With the meta undergoing a shift, having an understanding of the current top team comps is crucial for climbing the ranked ladder. Here are some of the best builds dominating patch 14.8 so far:

S-Tier Dryad Reroll Comp

2024 04 23T000913.296

Units: Gnar, Kindred, Ornn, Illaoi, Rek’Sai, Shen, Aatrox, Kayn

This classic reroll build focused on 3-starring Gnar and other Dragonlands units remains an S-tier force in 14.8. While some reroll staples like Draven took a hit, this comp’s consistency and capped power keep it elite. Stack offensive items like Guinsoo’s and Hand of Justice on Gnar for maximum scaling.

S-Tier Kai’Sa Carry Comp (Version 1)

2024 04 23T001124.072

Units: Kai’Sa, Teemo, Sivir, Xayah, Sylas, Galio, Aatrox, Riven, Kayle

The 4-cost Kai’Sa carry received noteworthy offensive buffs in 14.8, skyrocketing her power and making this vertical offensive comp a new premium option. Stack attack speed, crit, and damage items like Rageblade, Giant Slayer, and Last Whisper on Kai’Sa. Then layer in sturdy frontline tanks like Sylas and Utility from Galio/Kayle.

S-Tier Kai’Sa Carry Comp (Version 2)

2024 04 23T001221.136

Units: Kai’Sa, Morgana, Kayn, Illaoi, Aatrox, Shen, Caitlyn, Udyr

An alternative take on Kai’Sa carry that leans into the Dragonlands synergies and pairs her with the game’s resident battle bunny Morgana. Items are the same, focusing on Kai’Sa as the main damage threat. But the frontline shifts to bulky Dragonlands bruisers and warriors over mystics.

How to Play the Kai’Sa Comps

2024 04 23T001315.065

Your opener can vary based on what you’re naturally hitting. Scout the strongest board in the early game like Inksadows and play around that temporarily. You can assemble midgame boards with placeholder carries like Senna or Aatrox while accumulating Kai’Sa components.

Once you have Kai’Sa online at level 7 or 8, roll down to 2-star her and stabilize with the proper frontline units. The key is being flexible with leveling and rolling timing – play for Kai’Sa capped boards if bleeding out, or stay patient and push levels if healthy.

From there, max out at levels 9/10 and slot in 5-cost legendary tanks or utilities like Rakan, Sett, and Udyr. Focus your items fully on Kai’Sa while using defensive items on the frontline.

Tips: Take attack speed on Kayle for the mana boost. Hold Ashe while rolling for Kai’Sa since they share solid offense items.

Other Top Comps in 14.8

While the Kai’Sa boards are the hot new kids in town, veteran players know not to abandon past comps too quickly. The following elite options are still very strong in this patch:

Force of Nature Ashe Porcelain

2024 04 23T001401.877

Units: Ashe, Pantheon, Ezreal, Ornn, Lillia, Diana

This uncontested comp utilizes both the buffed 4-cost Ashe and the 5-cost monster Lillia as its dual carries. Stack Ashe with Guinsoo’s, Giant Slayer, and offensive items. With over 35% popularity and a 4.25 average placement at high ELO, it’s performing excellently.

Spirit Walker Irelia Sharpshooter

Units: Irelia, Bard, Sett + Sharpshooters

Irelia received offensive buffs similar to Kai’Sa, skyrocketing her scaling with items like Deathblade. This flexible comp layers in the utility of Bard and Sett alongside supportive Sharpshooter traits. At over 4.3 average finish, it’s a solid-capped option.

So if you’re not hitting for Kai’Sa items/units, these elite alternatives give you room to pivot without tanking your climb.

Other Viable Options: Reroll Janna comps, Reroll Riven Bruiser, Reroll Kog’Maw Ranger

Keys to Climbing in Patch 14.8

2024 04 23T001851.978

With so many viable comps, the name of the game in TFT 14.8 is flexibility above all else:

  • Stay open-minded. Don’t be afraid to try aggressive leveling and rolling for newly-buffed 4-cost carries like Kai’Sa, Kayn, and Ashe if you hit them early.
  • But also don’t fully abandon reroll staples like Janna and Riven if that’s where your opener is leading.
  • Most importantly, never be over-committed to a single strategy. With many potential capped endgame boards, constantly evaluate smart pivots based on your item components and unit pool.

Only time will tell if 4-cost carriers maintain their dominance or if reroll builds adapt to reclaim the throne. But by staying flexible and mastering the multiple top options, you’ll put yourself in the best position to climb consistently.
