Esport is no longer a small niche, as it has been getting more and more attention in recent years. Big companies seek to get involved and put more and more money into the scene, stimulating its further growth.

Among other factors, we have numerous exceptional players to thank for that. Through performance or sheer passion, they created an esports euphoria that most people didn’t previously know. It is precisely these players, the greatest of all time in their respective games, that we want to devote to in today’s list.

10. Matthew “Super” Delisi (Overwatch)

Overwatch could name a few esports legends, but probably one that comes up the most is Super. Matthew’s leadership skills led San Francisco Shock to the Overwatch League title in 2019. Moreover, the tank player was a part of the USA team that won the Overwatch World Cup in 2019. Earlier in March, he announced his retirement from professional Overwatch and became a full-time streamer.

Team Vitality’s French player Fairy Peak has won more than $400,000 in prize money across a variety of tournaments. These included the first and second place finish in the RLCS Season 7 and 8 Finals, as well as multiple MVP awards. Fun fact: In addition to Rocket League, he also plays Pokémon on a competitive level.

8. Tom “Ogre 2” Ryan (Halo)

Tom and his brother Dan “Ogre 1” Ryan are known as the “Ogre Twins” and together they won the gold medal at the 2005 Halo 2 World Cyber Games. Ogre 2 is often cited as the greatest Halo player of all time, and he was the only player to be a national champion in all Halo titles through Halo 4.

7. Jung “MVP” Jong Hyun (Starcraft 2)

When people talk about the best Starcraft 2 player of all time, they often say MVP. The South Korean esportsman couldn’t have chosen his name better, as he’s achieved almost everything there is to achieve. As a 4-time GSL champion, even CNN did a report about him and his career, which, of course, helped him get even more attention than before.

6. Seth “Scump” Abner (Call of Duty)

Scump has been active in the Call of Duty scene for a long time, but the release of Warzone gave him and his career a real boost. With 10 top three placements in major tournaments, the OpTic Texas player has already experienced a lot. It’s the mix of his performance and himself as a person that makes him THE person to come out of the Call of Duty League.

5. Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf (Fortnite)

Even though the Fortnite Esports scene is still very young, it already has a world champion and that’s Bugha. At just 16 years old, he won the first Fortnite World Cup in 2019 with more than $3 million in prize money, which makes him a legend in the scene. Because no Fortnite World Cup was held since then as a result of the pandemic, Bugha is still the reigning world champion.

3. Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund (Counter-Strike)

The best Counter-Strike player of all time is still regularly debated and most of the time, people can’t agree on one person. GeT_RiGhT was definitely one of the best among Counter-Strike legends. He has been active since 2007 and even though he retired from competitive play, he is still active as a streamer for Dignitas. Many say his game knowledge was better than anyone else’s and that his playstyle alone made whole teams have to adjust their style.

2. Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer (Counter Strike)

While it was really hard to decide which Counter-Strike player should get second place on this list, we had to mention olofmeister here. The Swede, who is probably as iconic for the game as Map Dust 2, has long since achieved legendary status. As part of the legendary Fnatic team, he has earned this status along with 3 Major titles and 6 MVP awards.
