Teemo and a 5 team tie at Worlds Play-In stage

RNG is back to their winning ways, a five-team tie might happen in Group A and DRX facing MAD should give us a thriller.

Between the Crocs, Teemo, and Bot Gap incidents that happened yesterday, the World Championship Play-In stage has been nothing short of entertaining. Fnatic still haven’t done a scrimmage against their opponents, the Brazilians are not going out without a fight and the Teemo pick had everyone confused.

RNG are ready

After losing their opening match against DRX, the LPL’s fourth seed RNG, have been on a tear. The methodical dismantling of the MAD Lions on day two followed up by two easy wins on day three leaves the MSI winners tied for second in group B. There’s probably no team better suited for the meta change we are seeing and their international experience is invaluable. Going away from enchanter supports and tanks on the top side in favor of engage supports, bruisers top and a carry jungler is RNG’s recipe for a win.

We are not sure if Graves is as good as Yan “Wei” Yang-Wei makes it seem to be, or if any other support should be allowed to pick Nautilus other than Shi “Ming” Sen-Ming but RNG are here to stay. The already disqualified Isurus would have been better off bringing the Teemo out against anyone else than RNG, but at least they tried to make it memorable. The last two games of the group stage will tell us if there is a three-way tie for first place.

Brazilian bot gap takes out Europe

Speaking of tiebreakers, Group A seems to be heading towards a lot of them. Evil Geniuses have started looking better since their opening night loss, with their bot lane substitution getting acclimated. Fnatic still haven’t had a practice or scrimmage against Worlds teams, considering their schedule since their bot laner arrived. Playing two games a day makes it hard to match schedules with other participating teams going through the same.

Despite looking like Fnatic of old since Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov rejoined, which is not necessarily a good thing, they are tied for first in the group. If both Fnatic and EG lose their last games, and LOUD beat the already disqualified OCE representatives Chiefs, we might be looking at a five-way tie at a 3-2 record. Speaking of LOUD, they gave us the most memorable moment of this tournament so far. The Brazilians are not scared to trash talk and beating Europe is a big accomplishment for them, but that’s what the best of one series are for.
