Talon Esports have had an amazing Dota Pro Circuit so far. In Tour 1, the team finished third in Southeast Asia and then went on to get another third-place result, but this time at the Lima Major. These two achievements had already put Talon in a great position that will likely allow them to earn a direct invite to TI12.

But in Tour 2 of DPC 2023, Talon did even better and manage to win the regional competition. With the points they got for that win, they are now ranked second globally with a total of 820 points. A top-eight result at the Berlin Major would pretty much guarantee their TI12 participation.

Tour 2 results in SEA

Talon Esports got 400 points for winning Tour 2 of DPC 2023 in Southeast Asia and their run was flawless: 7 W – 0 L. This pretty much proves that the team’s current roster, lead by Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong and carried by the highest MMR player in the world, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon, has reached its full potential.

At the upcoming Berlin Major, Talon should be regarded as one of the favorites. With the exception of the top two Western European teams, no other competitor is too strong for them.

The other SEA teams that did well in Tour 2 were Execration (5 W – 2 L) and Team SMG (5 W – 2 L). What’s truly bizarre about this region is that Geek Slate, who finished second in Tour 1, got relegated to Division II after a truly disastrous tour: 1 W – 6 L.

This is a warning to all Dota 2 teams. Complacency is lethal in this game and keeping up with the meta is essential. Without consistent training, the results will be poor.

Why Talon can be one of the best in the world

Talon have great potential. The individual talent of 23savage is comparable to that of Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi when he was in his prime. For most players, reaching 8.000 or 9.000 MMR is a great achievement. But to go from that level to the 13.000 MMR is extremely difficult.

The fact that 23savage did it at the age of just 20 is remarkable. He is now 21 years old and has the motivation to conquer the world. He often tweets about his dedication to Dota 2 and it’s quite scary to learn how many games he manages to play without interruption. He basically does this all day, every day.
