T1 managed to seal their ticket to the MSI after defeating Gen.G in the third round of the playoffs with an excellent 3-1 score. With this, the three-time world champions qualified for one of the most important tournaments of the season and will also fight for their 11th LCK title.

After the MSI format was changed, how teams qualified for the event was completely different according to the regions where they were located. For example, in the LCK, LCS, and LPL, the two tournament finalists seal their tickets to the international tournament. While in the LEC works differently since it is divided into three splits; the winners of winter and spring will be the qualifiers. However, if one of the teams repeats the championship, the one with more points in both splits gets the qualification.

T1 seals their ticket to the MSI

In the LCK, T1 managed to qualify for the MSI after playing an excellent Spring Split, which, in addition to being the absolute leaders, achieved a brilliant run to the grand final, where they await the winner between Gen.G and KT Rolster.

From start to finish, T1 dominated the LCK Spring Split at the beginning of the season. The team of “The Unkillable Demon King,” Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, finished with a 17-1 record in the Group Stage.

Then, in the playoffs, they crushed SANDBOX Gaming (3-1), KT Rolster (3-2), and Gen.G Esports (3-1). While all the matches were relatively comfortable for Faker and his adored T1, there is no doubt they had to take a blow to the table against KT Rolster to win in the fifth match.

Despite having the League of Legends legend in their ranks, T1, in addition to having all of their players in the All-Pro Team 1, has Ryu “Keria” Min-Seok, who was selected as the Split MVP. Undoubtedly, T1 is the clear favorite to win its 11th title in LCK history.

T1 joins G2 and C9 at MSI

With this victory and its ticket sealed, T1 joins the select list that, until now, was occupied only by Cloud9 and G2 Emports as teams that have qualified for the MSI. However, remember that this international competition will occur in London from May 2 to 21.

This ensures that one of the most exciting rivalries in the history of League of Legends, G2 Esports vs. T1, will meet again on an international stage.

To spice things up, the guys from G2 Esports, specifically one of them, Rasmus “caPs” Winther, have stated in an interview that he wants to face Faker and T1 at MSI. All this to avenge his team’s defeats at the last MSI.

However, Cloud9 is also included in the pack of teams that want to beat T1; at Worlds 2022, T1 crushed Cloud9 in the Group Stage and was one of those responsible for the NA representative finishing bottom of their group.
