Jake “Stewie2K” Yip, a well-known CS:GO professional and streamer, has left the Evil Geniuses CS:GO roster to focus solely on content creation.

Earlier this week, multiple reports noted that Evil Geniuses were planning to reshuffle their CS:GO lineup by signing Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier and Sanzhar “neaLaN” Iskhakov to replace Stewie and William “RUSH” Wierzba. Although the signing of misutaaa and neaLaN hasn’t been officially confirmed, one side of the report has been confirmed to be correct.

One of North America’s greatest CS:GO players, Stewie2K is taking a break from competitive CS:GO to focus on content creation and streaming. Despite leaving the competitive roster, he will remain a part of Evil Geniuses as a content creator and will stream Valorant and CS:GO.

Stewie2K, one of the most popular and seasoned players in the North American CS:GO scene, won his first championship with Cloud9 at the age of 18. He reached new heights of success in CS:GO after winning the historic ELEAGUE Major 2018, the first and only Major a North American team has ever won in the history of CS:GO.

While he represented several other major organizations in the region after leaving Cloud9, he was especially memorable during his time with Team Liquid. He continued his phenomenal performance in 2019 with Team Liquid, clinching whooping seven CS:GO titles in his first year with the organization including the IEM Chicago, IEM Sydney, and ESL Pro League Season 9. The CS:GO star also has an Intel Grand Slam and a total of 12 LAN trophies on his extensive record of achievements. After joining EG’s CSGO team in January, Stewie appeared in a handful of events with his former Cloud9 teammates.

Evil Geniuses’ big guns collapsed

Evil Geniuses put together a squad with years of experience, adding the former major winner trio of Timothy “autimatic” Ta, William “RUSH” Wierzba, and Stewie2k ahead of the 2022 season. However, this season turned out to be a massive disaster for EG. They were eliminated from the ESL Pro League, BLAST Spring Groups, and BLAST Spring Showdown without winning a single series, while they failed to even qualify for several prestigious competitions like BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 and IEM Dallas 2022.

However, this isn’t the end for Stewie2K as he indicated in his Twitter poster that this might not be a permanent retirement and a return to the competitive front is possible in the future. In the meantime the CS:GO star will continue entertaining fans and followers with CS:GO and Valorant streams as he unveils the next chapter of his decorated career.
