As 2023 draws to a close, Skyesports has lifted the curtain on its plans for the upcoming year, detailing its roadmap for CS2 in 2024.

The organizer has set the stage for six major global tournaments with a combined prize pool reaching an impressive $1 million. Each of these tournaments is slated to be a LAN event, featuring a mix of both domestic and international teams.

Skyesports’ Grand Vision for CS2 in 2024

Recognized as a leading esports tournament organizer in South Asia, Skyesports has unveiled its anticipated roadmap for Counter Strike 2 (CS2) in 2024. The calendar boasts six international events, each carrying a substantial prize pool of $1 million.

CS2, a successor to the renowned CS:GO, was introduced in 2023. While CS:GO set the gold standard in esports and even made its mark on mainstream television, CS2 aims to uphold its predecessor’s legacy. Skyesports is committed to fostering and expanding the esports landscape, particularly within South Asia.

According to the press release, 2024 will witness six international events, each designed as a LAN event spanning both domestic and international arenas. The initial trio of LAN tournaments are scheduled for India, while the subsequent ones will be hosted in various global locations.

Skyesports’ Upcoming Tournaments: A Blend of Local and International Flavors

Kicking off the lineup is the Skyesports Grand Slam, scheduled for March 14-18 in India, offering a prize pool of $50,000. Following this, the Skyesports Masters, India’s premier franchise-based league, is set to return next year, spanning from May 13-19 with a prize pool of $350,000. The full roster of tournaments and their specifications will be revealed by the organizer shortly.

These events in India will not only feature domestic teams but also welcome international squads. Among the events is the Souvenir Series, set to host teams from India, Europe, and North America. Additionally, the Skyesports Global Tour, a novel IP, will hold its qualifying rounds across regions like India, Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. To cap off the year, Skyesports has slated the India vs. Pakistan Series.

Commitment to Indian Esports and Tournament Evolution

Furthermore, Skyesports expressed its intent to support Counter-Strike 2 events at colleges and cafes across India, providing both financial and infrastructural backing.

The roadmap also emphasizes a structured approach, with invitations for subsequent events extended to top-performing teams from preceding IPs. This strategy aims to allow elite teams to focus more on talent development rather than navigating frequent qualification rounds.

Reflecting on the Skyesports Masters 2023, the event featured eight franchise teams, culminating in a grand finale at Bengaluru’s Koramangala Indoor Stadium. While the tournament garnered moderate attention and decent viewership, concerns arose within the community regarding the sponsorship tie-up with the controversial gambling app, 1xBet.
