While it is true that this news was already official, and we were waiting for it to be a fact, there is no doubt that it is a really sad day for the community, fans, and the competitive scene of League of Legends in NA. After several years of being one of the top teams in the league, it is now 100% confirmed that TSM will make a change of scenery.

As a result, the NA scene of League of Legends, i.e., the LCS, has a new team for next season, and it is none other than Shopify Rebellion.

Shopify Rebellion join the LCS after the official departure of TSM

Through a statement on its official Twitter/X account, Shopify Rebellion announced its entry into the LCS after buying TSM’s spot for $10,000,000. There is no doubt that the league loses a great team like TSM but gains a “promising” organization that, without a doubt, is giving a lot to talk about in the esports scene.

In the official statement, Shopify Rebellion mentions that they could not waste the opportunity to join the League of Legends competitive scene, as it is an esports with a “rich competitive history.”

On the other hand, Dario “TLO” Wünsch, a board member of Shopify Rebellion, said:

“We are excited to work with the former TSM roster and have them compete in the LCS under the Shopify Rebellion banner.”

About Shopify Rebellion

In the esports scene, we all know the hard-earned recognition this organization has earned thanks to its excellent tournament appearances in Dota 2, Halo, StarCraft, Rocket League, and Street Fighter.

In addition, it is worth remembering that the organization has one of the world’s best VALORANT Game Changers lineups. Similarly, a few hours ago, they announced a partnership with Moist Esports to create a men’s VALORANT program called MxS to compete in next season’s Challengers League.

However, Shopify Rebellion has important decisions to make right now, as they need to shape their lineup to start preparation for the upcoming season. Currently, 3 of the 4 players remaining in the old TSM lineup are under contract until November, while Lee “Bugi” Seong-yeop is the only one with one more year left on his contract.

As a result, the organization must decide whether to renew the contract of TSM’s old lineup or start looking for new players in this free agency period.

TSM’s official departure from the LCS

Now, Shopify Rebellion’s arrival in the LCS does nothing but bid farewell to one of the biggest and most historic organizations in the NA LoL competitive scene, TSM.

Recall that the organization announced in May that they would be leaving the LCS at the end of the season to move to a new region. However, TSM was one of the flagship teams of the LCS, so it was a sad farewell for them.

During the last 10 years, TSM won 7 championship titles in the LCS, and, in addition, they won the IEM Katowice S9. Moreover, they represented the LCS in the Worlds 7 times and in the MSI 2 times. Finally, let’s remember that TSM was home to legends such as Mingyi “Spica” Lu, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon, and Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg.
