At the beginning of the franchise era in the VALORANT Champions Tour, many Tier 1 professional players were left without the opportunity to show their full level in the top tier, so they had to play in the Challengers scene to make their way. One such player was Enzo “Enzo” Mestari, who is currently part of Apeks’ VALORANT division.

Apeks came very close to earning their spot in the VCT EMEA League for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, but they fell just short after losing the VCT 2023: Ascension EMEA Grand Final to Gentle Mates 0-3. As a result, Enzo would, for now, be out of VALORANT’s top competitive level for another season.

However, reports surfaced in the last few hours that Enzo is reportedly on Team Liquid’s radar for the 2024 VCT season.

Reports claim that Enzo will be playing with Team Liquid in 2024

According to popular esports journalist Alejandro Gomis, Enzo would have an agreement to play with Team Liquid for the 2024 VCT season. As a result, the 27-year-old Frenchman would return to the top tier of EMEA for next season.

After being part of Fnatic for the last 6 months of 2022, Enzo was sent to the organization’s inactive list and eventually ended up signing with Apeks on January 10, 2023. Enzo led the team to the VCT Ascension EMEA 2023 Grand Final with this mixed and talented squad. However, the team fell short against Gentle Mates, and after a dreadful 0-3 defeat, they crashed out of the VCT EMEA League.

Similarly, according to Gomis’ report, Enzo can return to the top competitive level in EMEA, as the player verbally agrees with Team Liquid.

While it is true that Enzo could not be as decisive as his former teammates in Fnatic in 2023, the short time he was in the Black & Orange squad served him to show his full potential in LAN tournaments.

However, Fnatic fell short in VALORANT Champions 2022, losing to DRX and finishing only in the TOP 6. As a result, Enzo did not cut, and after announcing the beginning of the franchise era in the VCT, he was dropped by the organization, and they signed in his place none other than Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov.

Enzo joins Apeks to stay active

Now, when no Tier 1 team showed interest in him, Enzo joined Apeks to play in the Challengers scene and stay active. In addition, he also had in mind to lead his new team to win the VALORANT Ascension.

With the start of the 2023 offseason, several big EMEA teams showed interest in Enzo, including KCorp, Giants, and Team Liquid. However, it seems that the Frenchman has decided to join Liquid.

On the other hand, if this move is completed, we will have to wait for the decision to be taken by the organization since Igor “Redgar” Vlasov is currently the IGL of Team Liquid, and let’s remember that the team managed to beat Fnatic in the Grand Final of the VCT EMEA League 2023.

Right now, we will have to wait for the confirmation of this move and, above all, what Team Liquid will do, as they could easily keep both IGLs and use them in different roles in the game.
