Roobet Cup group stage results

Roobet Cup is about to enter the playoffs stage. The tournament has been full of upsets so far, but some of them were partly anticipated because of the chaotic roster changes that are taking place at the moment.

Heroic had to improvise a roster for this tournament, so it’s not a big surprise that they failed to advance to the playoffs. The only surprise is that they managed to defeat Aurora is their first match.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were in a similar situation, so their failure in group D didn’t shock anyone. It was an unpleasant surprise, however, because they defeated Fnatic in the first match and made everyone feel like they were capable of accomplishing a great result in this tournament regardless of the team’s internal issues.

Group B was the only one in which the favorites, Virtus.pro and Movistar Riders, managed to qualify by defeating 9z Team and Team Spirit. But it was not easy. Riders’ overall game score, 77-89, makes you wonder how they did it.

The most messed up group of the four was group C. Here, 9INE and Astralis failed in spectacular fashion, leaving their fans extremely disappointed. In Astralis’ case, if the situation doesn’t improve in the coming months, it’s likely that we will see some additional roster changes.

Device and blameF are obviously two solid players that will not be changed in the coming years unless they themselves ask to be replaced. But the other members of the team have a much more unstable position on the roster.

Notable performances

In group A, the winners were FURIA Esports and Aurora. FURIA won both of their matches with a score of 2-1 and their victories were to a large extent a consequence of FalleN’s excellent individual skills. Despite being the team’s IGL, he had numerous kills and assists in both matches.

It seems that the closer he gets to his retirement, the more determined he is to obtain some notable results. FalleN joined FURIA after many years in the wilderness, so to speak, and lots of painful failures. Ever since he left SK Gaming, his career hasn’t been the same. But now is the perfect moment to shine one more time before the curtain falls.

Two other teams that performed well in the group stage of Roobet Cup are BIG and Monte. Both of them are regarded as favorites to win the tournament.
