Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was officially announced by Activision as the next title in the series, with a “new Warzone experience” set for release later this year. An exact release date for Modern Warfare II was not given, but apparently the game is slated for release this fall.
Modern Warfare II has long been in talks
According to Charlie Intel, both new games will be based “on a brand new engine” that Activision has been “working on for years.” In particular, the new Warzone will be developed from the ground up using Modern Warfare II. According to Infinity Ward co-studio head Pat Kelly, the lead developer behind both titles, the new Warzone will be a completely new story full of surprises and will be a “massive evolution of Battle Royale.” Kelly also announced a Modern Warfare II “incredibly ambitious sandbox mode”.
At this point, it’s unclear if the new Warzone will be released at the same time as Modern Warfare II or if it will appear in an update a few months later, like the original Warzone in 2019’s Modern Warfare. Rumors of a 2019 sequel to Modern Warfare have been around for some time. Recently, Activision revealed Infinity Ward as the main team behind the 2022 Call of Duty title, so this announcement only confirms what many had already expected.
Also, this Warzone 2 stuff is exciting but… *clears throat*
Don't get too hyped, don't get sucked into the PR BS, don't get sucked into X person saying it's great.
Lower your expectations and make your mind up when you play the game.

A fresh start
Lately Warzone was in a terrible state for some time now, and it seems that Activision has opted to start completely fresh instead of trying to repair everything that’s broken in the game. One thing that troubled players since Warzone’s release is that there’s no Field of View Silder (FOV) for consoles while the PC version offers that feature.
Activision explained the issue as follows: “Adding FOV to consoles in Warzone results in significant performance degradation for players of old-gen consoles. Our goal is for Warzone to be a powerful experience on all platforms, from there we don’t currently plan to implement an FOV slider on consoles.”
Warzone was released in 2020 and has become one of the most popular games in the world, ringing the cash register at Activision and generating billions in revenue for the company. The battle royale genre will soon see another box office hit with this updated, new title.
To heal the pain due to my lack of timezone knowledge…
There's technically a 4th Call of Duty title releasing by the end of 2023.
