Riot has provided information about a complete redesign of champion prices; in response to the League of Legends community’s growing dissatisfaction with the cost of champions in the client store.

The game will soon reduce the prices of almost all champions, except for five that will keep their price of 6.300 BE. All champions are currently priced according to their release date. However, from now on, League champions’ RP and BE prices will be based on their compatibility with new players.

League of Legends champion price adjustments

Complete information on Riot’s champion price restructuring has been posted on the Chinese League website. In addition, the information was translated and uploaded to the League of Legends subreddit; this information details the new prices for each of the champions.

Details of the new prices

Champions costing 450 BE, for example, are pretty simple and easy to master. At this price, champions such as Annie, Teemo, Yuumi, and Lux, among others, will be available.

The price of champions should vary according to their difficulty level. Champions like Rammus and Lucian will only cost 1.350 BE. However, Akshan and Camille, which are harder to choose, will cost 4.800 BE. Jhin’s price will differ from the others, 4.444 BE, in honor of the character’s fascination with the number four.

According to a comment on Reddit by League developer Tim Jiang, one of Riot’s primary goals in this revised pricing scheme is:

“Try to match difficult/approachability when possible.”

While this may cause some champions (such as Yasuo and Zed) to drop below the 1,350 mark, Riot also aims to avoid raising the cost of champions so that it will benefit players more.

In addition, the League’s development team encourages players to take more risks when increasing their champion pool. Players should not hesitate to buy a reasonably priced champion, nor should they regret it if they later decide they don’t like the champion’s play style.

We don’t want players to be penalized for “exploring,” Jiang said. Instead, we want you to find the best champion at a reasonable price.

Currently, 32 champions in the League Store cost 6.300 BE each, but shortly, there will be only five champions with that price. Therefore, only Bel’Veth, K’Sante, Nilah, Renata Glasc, and Zer are the League champions that will cost 6.300 BE when the new modifications come into effect.

According to Riot, these changes will go into effect along with League patch 13.5. The release day for this patch is March 8.
