James “Mistic” Orfila, former Fnatic star, has reportedly secured a verbal agreement to join Team Liquid’s roster for the highly anticipated 2024 VCT season

Team Liquid seems poised to make a significant comeback in the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA for the 2024 season with the reported acquisition of James “Mistic” Orfila, a former Apeks player and Fnatic star. According to the BLIX’s repot, Mistic has reached a verbal agreement to join the Liquid squad, marking a new chapter in his competitive Valorant journey.

The deal includes not only Mistic’s transfer but also the acquisition of Georgio “Keiko” Sanassy and Enzo “Enzo” Mestari, effectively absorbing the core of Apeks’ current roster into Team Liquid. This strategic move comes on the heels of a series of roster changes within Team Liquid, including the departure of Igor “Redgar” Vlasov to the Spanish organization Giants, Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel’s move to Team Vitality, and Dom “soulcas” Sulcas’s move to free agency in September.

Mistic to join Liquid in their search for redemption

The decision to bring Mistic into the fold follows Team Liquid’s decision to release three players after their underwhelming performance at VCT Champions earlier this year. Despite winning the inaugural EMEA season, Liquid faced an early exit from the prestigious tournament.

Mistic, a former Fnatic player, had been a crucial part of Fnatic’s success throughout 2021, attending two Masters and Champions tournaments during his time with the organization. Despite his talent, he was released from Fnatic when the team was accepted into the EMEA franchise, relegating him to the tier-two scene.

During the 2023 season, Mistic found a temporary home with Apeks, coming tantalizingly close to qualifying for VCT EMEA before a disappointing 3-0 loss to Gentle Mates dashed their hopes.

Now, with a year spent proving himself as a formidable player in the Ascension stage, Mistic is set to triumphantly return to the Valorant main stage with Team Liquid. The former EMEA Champions have a lot to prove when the season kicks off again, and Mistic’s addition may be the catalyst they need to secure their spot at the top.

As of now, neither Mistic nor Team Liquid has officially confirmed or commented on this reported transaction, leaving Valorant fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement. Nevertheless, this potential addition to the Liquid roster has certainly sparked excitement and speculation within the competitive Valorant community. Keep watching for updates on what could be a game-changing move for Team Liquid in the 2024 VCT season.
