PSG.LGD Wins the Cup at CDA-FDA Professional Championship

CDA-FDA Professional Championship brought together 8 of the best teams in China. And in spite of not being a tier 1 event when it comes to its prize pool, this was certainly a tier 1 event if you look at the list of participants. And, just as the community expected, PSG.LGD won. But they almost didn’t. Because a newly created team, made up of former PSG.LGD players, Vici Gaming players, and other superstars, quickly established itself as a formidable competitor and came very close to upsetting the established order.

Group Stage Results

The Group Stage of CDA-FDA Professional Championship started with a loss for Elephant.4AM, the team that was ultimately going to finish the tournament in 2^ndplace. But in the next two matches, they did much better and ended up winning the group.

In Group B, PSG.LGD and Aster had no opponent. In their direct match, PSG.LGD won. One remarkable thing about that match was its first game, which ended in just 19 minutes. PSG.LGD abused a Viper + Monkey King + Undying strategy that proved to be unstoppable.

2^nd place: Team Aster: 2 W – 1 L
3^rd place: Invictus Gaming: 1 W – 2 L
4^th place: Sparking Arrow Gaming: 0 W – 3 L

Playoffs Results

In the Playoffs of CDA-FDA Professional Championship, PSG.LGD proved its skill superiority right from the start. They won 2 – 0 against EHOME and then 2 – 0 again against Royal Never Give Up. Meanwhile, Elephant.4AM lost its first match against RNG and had to take the long road through the Lower Bracket. They thrived though, in spite of having very little experience in competing as a roster. Their results were 2 – 1 against Invictus Gaming, 2 – 0 against Aster, and then 2 – 0 against their nemesis, which had defeated them twice in this tournament, RNG.

Grand Final

The Grand Final of CDA-FDA Professional Championship started with a win for Elephant.4AM, which picked either Chen or Undying in each of their games. In this one, they picked Chen and relied on Troll Warlord to carry them. And he did.

The next two games went to PSG.LGD. And then Elephant.4AM did something unusual for this competitive level: they played two consecutive games with an identical set of supports and offlaner. In the first of these games, their Undying + Mars + Phoenix combo worked well. But in the second one, PSG.LGD had a much better response and ended up winning the series.
