After a disastrous 2023, the renowned mid-laner Luka “Perkz” Perković is reportedly leaving Team Vitality this off-season to look for new opportunities.

According to reports from Blix, Vitality is off to some major roster adjustments ahead of the new season as a result of their disappointing 2023 campaign. The French organization is reportedly parting ways with star LEC Luka “Perkz” Perković. Perkz, who has been an integral part of Vitality since late 2021, is contracted with the French organization until the end of 2024, but with reports hinting at a revamp, his tenure seems to be over earlier than expected.

Perkz parts ways with Vitality after a disastrous 2023 season

After showcasing his prowess with Cloud9 in North America, where he won the LCS Spring 2021, the Croatian player returned to LEC in 2022 with Vitality. The French organization reportedly paid a huge amount of money for Perkz, who has a stellar track record in the European League, including eight LEC titles, two Mid-Season Invitational appearances, and two back-to-back memorable World final appearances in 2018 and 2019.

Team Vitality’s journey in the 2023 LEC season was a rollercoaster with bumps waiting for them in every corner. While they had a strong start in LEC Winter, topping the regular season at 7-2, they quickly bombed out of the playoffs for that split. Perkz and company recovered at the Spring Split and secured a commendable third place in the Spring Playoffs. Their performance deteriorated again at the LEC Summer, where they finished at the last spot with only one victory,  not even making it to the playoffs and getting a chance to fight for the Worlds 2023 spot.

Vitality’s inconsistent performance raised many questions and brought a lot of scrutiny to the roster, making roster adjustments imminent. Perkz’s contract with the French organization is still in effect for another year, although it seems rather unlikely that he will stay on the squad going forward. Where he ends up is still up in the air, but given the LEC pay limitations for the upcoming season, it’s difficult to predict which team he’ll sign with or how much money they’ll have left over for other players.

Even though it would be hard to fill the shoes of a great player like Perkz, Team Vitality is committed to assembling a winning roster, The organization is reportedly promoting academy jungler Kacper “Daglas” Dagiel to the main roster.  Although he is just 18 years old and briefly appeared on the LEC stage in 2023, he may have his chance to shine with Vitality next season.
