T1 has announced the re-signing of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, with the League of Legends superstar set to compete for the organization throughout the 2022 season. Regarded as one of the best LoL players of all time, the South Korean veteran has been with T1 since February 2013.

Speculation had been mounting surrounding the mid-laner’s future, especially given the opening of the League of Legends free agency period last week. Fans of T1 will be delighted by the news of his renewal, with Faker having played a huge part in the org’s success over the years. With Faker on board, has won three World Championships, in 2013, 2015 and 2016, as well as 2x Mid-Season Invitationals and 9x LCK Championships.

What T1 & Faker Have Said On the Announcement

Speaking on the news, Faker simply posted “I’m back”, with those who had been considering signing him now having to look elsewhere. In 2021, T1 reached the Worlds 2021 semi-finals, before being eliminated by eventual runners-up DWG KIA, in a hugely entertaining five-match series. It was a season of experimenting for T1, who tried a host of different lineups. Their best finish came at the LCK Summer, with the org having come out as runners-up in August.

T1 CEO, Joe Marsh, has also had his say on the announcement, with the American having stated the following on his personal Twitter account: “[I’m] honored that Faker has chosen to re-sign with T1,” “These past few days have been a lot of sleepless nights and long conversations with Faker and his team. Excited to continue on this journey together.”

Faker is a major name in the eSports community, having amassed a following of 3.7 million on streaming platform Twitch, as well as 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube. As a result, his re-signing is big news for T1 both on and off the screen.

How the T1 League of Legends Roster Looks at This Point

T1 is undergoing something of a rebuild at present, with interim head coach Son “Stardust” Seok-hee having been let go, along with player development coach Park “Hajinsun” Hyunseon, support Ryu “Hoit” Ho-seong, jungler Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan and mid laner Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon. All coaches and players were released following their involvement at the Worlds 2021.

As a result of such changes, the T1 LoL roster is currently made up by top laner Kim “Canna” Chang-dong, jungler Moon “Oner” Hyeong-joon, bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok and substitute Choi “Zeus” Woo-je.
