The thrills of the 2023 season of the Counter-Strike competitive scene continue, and in the online qualifiers for the BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2023, we have Party Astronauts pulling off a pleasant surprise in the NA region by defeating Imperial Esports 2-0.

There is no doubt that this is a disappointing defeat for the Brazilian squad that is still unable to reach its best level after the departure of Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo. In addition, the team is now immersed in many doubts, and, most likely, they are considering a radical change in their squad.

On the other hand, we cannot take away the merits of the North American squad of Party Astronauts, as they showed a spectacular team play that, without a doubt, made them justly deserving of this victory. Now, the team will wait for their opponent in the semifinals, which will come from the match between Team Liquid and Forsaken.

Party Astronauts apply a clean sweep against Imperial Esports

The unthinkable happened in the first match of BLAST from Premier: Fall American Showdown 2023. Party Astronauts, a team that usually competes in Tier 3 tournaments, crushed Imperial Esports 2-0 to apply a clean sweep and advance to the tournament’s semifinals. Moreover, this means a disappointing and premature farewell for Imperial, a team that wanted to show a new face in this tournament by qualifying for the Fall Finals.

The series took place in Overpass and Nuke.

Overpass

Things started extremely badly for the Brazilian squad of Imperial Esports since they were always crushed and beaten by the North Americans in Overpass, their own map pick.

Party Astronauts employed a spectacular defense on their CT Side in the first half to prevent all Brazilian approaches. As a result, the North Americans took a convincing 12-3 partial victory. Also, they were led by Adam “Grizz” Golden (121.8 ADR and 1.97 Rating).

Then, at the change of sides, things stayed the same, and after 6 rounds, Party Astronauts took the victory with a solid score of 16-5.

Nuke

In the second map, Nuke, Imperial Esports woke up to make things more interesting. However, they could not withstand the comeback of the Americans and ended up conceding in Overtime.

Imperial came out very strong in the first half with a great defense to take a partial victory by 10-5. Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo gave his teammates hope with 99.1 ADR and a 1.40 Rating. However, at the change of sides, the Americans woke up to turn everything around. After 15 rounds, they scored 15-15 to send the map to Overtime.

Finally, after 5 rounds in OT, Party Astronauts sealed their victory by 19-16 to advance to the tournament’s semifinals.
