Over 8000 Fake Fakers on Korean LOL Server After Riot ID Change

On November 23, Riot Games introduced Riot IDs to replace Summoner Names, which aimed to unify all of its users across multiple games.

Since players are identified through a name and unique tagline, there are thousands of players who impersonate their favourite pro League of Legends players and community members, including the legendary mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.

Everybody wants to be Faker

In Korea, there are currently over 8,500 accounts with the name “Hide on Bush,” which is known worldwide as the solo queue account for Faker. This name has always been Faker’s, until the new ID changes allowed thousands of fans to adopt his name with different taglines. Although many people say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, only the king remains at the top of the food chain.

8.500 fake Faker accounts in Korea title

As of publishing, the real “Hide on Bush” owned by Faker is the highest ranked account on the server among the imposters with 830 LP in Grandmaster, according to League stats aggregate OP.GG. There are, however, two other players named Hide on Bush in Grandmaster, 19 different versions of the account in Master, and countless more in the ranks below. Faker has maintained his claim over the Hide on Bush name, but he only has a 49 percent win rate over the last 20 games he’s played.

The second-highest Hide on Bush account is only 131 LP away from dethroning the real Faker and has been much more active in solo queue than the 27-year-old icon. If Faker doesn’t want to be pushed out of his reign as the best Hide on Bush in Korea, he might have to hop back into the grind to win some games.

However, as he traveled to Germany yesterday, the Korean solo cue will have to wait a little longer! On December 9th the Red Bull League of Its Own will take place and at this event Faker will compete together with the rest of T1 against teams like NNO, Eintracht Spandau and Karmine Corp. The whole thing will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin and tickets sold out immediately after the event was announced about three months ago.

As soon as he’s back in Korea, he’s sure to get back into the grind and prove that he’s the one and only Hide on Bush in the solo cue! Until that happens, the other Hide on Bush account, which is in the Masterelo, could catch up with him.
